Tacos are 3.25 each and are about the size of the palm of your hand. That’s unacceptable. Additionally fountain drinks at 4.50 is absurd. Please see receipt for reference. The torta we had was… okay. As was the “flaming hot” burrito. However, Bakersfield is a Mexican food haven and there are at least 4-5 restaurants serving this food at a far superior price point within 5 miles.
For a frame of reference, I had to give 3 tacos to a pair of young children as the two I originally purchased was insufficient (they were still hungry).
I was hoping the food will at least taste good but given was unseasoned and the Guac sauce they give on the side is crazy over salted. Very disappointed. Might as well go to Taco Bell next door.
Chicken, asada, pastor and Chorizo, cabeza (steamed pork). You have to put the onions and cilantro on yourself but, I think they did this because some don’t like them garnished already.
I was full but, had to try the fish taco and it was huge! Very good batter and well garnished. Good portions and the salsa are made there and packaged there I was told.
Gotta come back to try breakfast and a burrito. Next time!
What stood out:
– Frozen meat from a sandwich zip-lock bag
– Overpriced drinks
– Disposable containers with a 1/4 lemon wedge
– Prepackaged/factory salsa
– Unfriendly service from cashier… The cook did try to give welcoming service.
I heard about this place from a friend who said it was a good spot for tacos. I ordered 3 tacos at $3.25 each and $4.50 for a fountain drink with no refills. When I walked in, I noticed the whole building was smoky, like they didn’t want to use their kitchen exhaust.
The cashier hesitated to hand me my drink. When I asked for my fountain drink she seemed bothered and told me she would give it to me in a bit. I waited while she did other things until she finally gave it to me with a frown on her face.
While I was waiting for my food, I realized they were calling out numbers and that’s when I noticed I never got my receipt. I also saw the cook pulling out frozen meat from a sandwich zip-lock bag. That was disappointing, especially at these prices (Rosedale HWY).
When I got my tacos, they had about half an ounce of meat on them. I spent 30 minutes of my lunch break here and left with my stomach feeling empty. Kind of like when my aunt feeds me her old leftovers.
