Stopped by one evening and got two burritos. This was our first time at Taco Del Mar, but counter-serve “build-your-own” burrito model is quite familiar to me.
Coming from the southeast where we have a lot of good options for this model (Willys, Moes, Barberitos, etc), perhaps my standards were too high. The burritos we got were sloppy sacks with no structure or substance. It felt like biting into a tube of toothpaste, and both of us got terrible indigestion afterwards.
The service was fine, no complaints there. The inside of the place feels like a corporate committee designed it – totally fine but no character at all.
Ultimately, I probably would have been better off getting a quesadilla, but seriously these were some of the worst burritos I’ve had in the city of bend. Would like to see more substantial meat options like steak strips or grilled chicken chunks (instead of everything being shredded); grilled vegetables; and black beans that are actually beans (not paste… if I wanted that, I would get refried). The ratio of meat to beans/rice was also horrendous. Maybe a little more than a golf-ball sized hunk of shredded beef, vs a full cup of pasty black beans… further contribution to the feeling that the burrito was just a sludge wrap.
The guacamole tasted a bit sour and a bit bitter, and the lil cup they gave me was barely ~1/2 full. If you’re gonna charge for side guac, don’t skimp…
Ultimately, maybe this place sits in a price/product ratio that just doesn’t make sense for me. I would have rather paid $14 for an enjoyable burrito instead of $10.50 for a tortilla-wrapped sludgy gut bomb.

Things have changed… I enjoyed coming here for lunch for a long time. I always got a massive burrito. Over the past month and a half, every time I come in I get small burritos. I really enjoy the food here but it seems like they are being stingy with the rice, beans and meat. Anyways, the food is still good just much less than before.

I used to love this place. Just went there for the first time in over a year and got the taco salad. The guy workong didnt listen to me and put stuff on I didnt ask for (nothing I cant deal with) but the shell to the salad was stale as could be. So gross.. threw it away and walked out.

It’s been years and now I know why. I incorrectly chose this place for lunch. HOLY HELL WHAT HAPPENED! I gave the service reps 2 stars because they don’t deserve for the cheap franchise owner to cowardly hide behind the scenes and them take the blame for garbage being served at a premium price. Ordered 3 tacos and a chips n queso. They pull a shell from a stack of what looks to be old el paso processed store bought shells. They throw a speck of barely any meat and taco fillings but somehow couldn’t fill it up like a regular taco for me. Just sprinkles and dustings of ingredients. Is this place going out of business? I get better tacos from Taco Bell for half the price. As for the chips I got a measly handful of crumbs and a small ration of what resembled 7/11 canned yellow #5 cheese. Up to this point against my own judgment I was fine paying $4.50 for a crappy 1/2 taco. They started up charging with no warning $1 per taco because I picked steak/shredded beef/chicken. I asked if they could fill up the tacos at least and they said sorry no. Unbelievable……don’t do it! Forget this place!

Tried a shredded beef taco and a fish taco. Beef one was good but the frozen fish one was terrible! Such a small piece of fish on the taco.
The tortillas were cold and falling apart on both. And the pricing was over priced the quality.

As good as I remembered it could be. There were two locations in the Olympia area run by the same family and they were always so stingy with toppings that my family thought Taco Del Mar was bad. They went out of business. We hadn’t been back to another location since. The store in Bend hooked it up. Thank you.

I ordered two fish tacos my wife ordered a shrimp burrito wet. I did not care for the tacos they are not what I remember before Corona virus definitely would not order them again is the reason for three stars. The restaurant was clean the employees were fast and friendly everything was on point except for the fish tacos they did not taste fresh it tasted like the battered fish was precooked and then put into a warmer that is the only way I can describe it. My wife said her shrimp burrito was pretty good she said she didn’t overall have any complaints.
