In 1967, we opened our doors in Abilene, TX to share fresh, authentic Mexican food. Now, almost 52 years later, while the other guys have turned to packaged and processed foods, we’ve stayed true to our roots by crafting authentic recipes in each of our kitchens. We do things the Bueno way, and you’re sure to taste the difference.

Counter-serve Mexican chain offering tacos, burritos & quesadillas plus a serve-yourself salsa bar.

We were the only ones dining in. There were a few people popping in and out for their carry out orders though. We ordered, and barely sat down before our food was ready, they’re quick. There seemed to be only two employees there but they seemed busy with drive through orders nearly the entire time we were there. I got the wholotta platter and my sister had some tacos. The food was good and very filling. I got my food at 3pm and didn’t need to eat again until the next morning. The woman who took our order briefly forgot our cheesecake chimis (again, probably caught up in drive through orders) but that was resolved quickly.

Taco Bueno, we need you back soon! Please build back from the storm that made you close! We miss eating your great food! We miss your low prices! We went through Dallas and saw a Taco Bueno and had to stop! We went on passing through Muskogee, Ok and stopped there also! Going down Valley Mills Rd and slowly go by and sadly see it still closed. We hope you open soon!!

It was a wonderful place to get food at, but now with it being closed for so long I wonder if it is ever coming back and I really hope it does.

Me and my grandson decided to eat here on the 24th. As we were eating our delicious meal we noticed that a storm rolled in and it was getting bad. My grandson told me that we should leave and I proceeded to tell him I’m not leaving without eating my meal. Also we wouldn’t be able to beat the storm. Halfway through our meal, we could see it pouring down and the winds were very strong. My grandson was getting scared but I told him that I’ve survived 2 tornadoes and this storm couldn’t compare to what I’ve experienced. All of a sudden we heard 2 loud booms and the rest is just a blur. I felt like I had blacked out. I woke up to being covered in what felt like a weighted blanket. Little to my surprise, the roof had actually caved in. My grandson was yelling and pulling me up from under the rubble. I could not believe it. The roof was ON TOP OF ME. It was madness. A few workers were helping and was able to pull me out of the rubble. Next thing I remember is looking down and I was actually still holding my taco. I then proceeded to get my bearings straight and I finished the taco. It was the best taco I ever eaten in my life. I’m not sure if it was actually the best taco or if it was the adrenaline running through my blood but it was a damn good taco. I then asked for a refill on my Dr. Pepper and we left. I would give the food and service a perfect 5 stars. This food is to die for….. literally. As for the atmosphere, I’d have to give it a 2 on count of the roof caving in and falling on me.

Would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back once they fix the roof and reopen. Jesus is King

I love Taco Bueno and the one that was close to me closed down. So it is a treat to be able to go to the one in Waco!
The staff are always friendly, the food is always good and my Muchaco was delicious and the party burritos I got in case I needed more, made my daughter happy when I got home and made me happy later that night! A few minutes in the microwave and they were like new!

This place is so much better than Taco Bell! Their tortillas and crunchy taco shells are always fresh. If you go inside they have a salsa bar with jalapeños, pico, salsa, cilantro and onions. And the new Avacado salsa is delicious! I drive from Temple to eat here! Also, the customer service was wonderful!

Ordered the steak quesadio..one for me and one for my husband. They were nothing like the advertisement on TV. Had no taste. Very disappointed. We threw away a whole one. Wasted $18.00. I don’t blame the workers. They can only work with what they are given.

So food was ok…service was ok, not great. I ordered the beef nacho salad & it usually doesn’t have enough queso, so I asked how much it would be to add extra & how much you get for that price…so the size is 2oz & the price was 89 cents… ??? Really??? It should be like half that amount since it’s more water than cheese.

I know, I know… it’s fast food Mexican, but it’s just sooooo good. Yes, a lot of it is nostalgia for me, but it is still good. The freshness of the ingredients rather than bagged and processed food is such a huge difference. It’s quick, cheap, and very filling. Sometimes you just crave something different and Bueno always hits the spot.
