One Star. Five Stars for the Comedy.
I have eaten at a lot of Taco Bells in my life. Late nights. Road trips. Questionable decisions at 1:47 a.m. Never, ever have I witnessed a Taco Bell experience like the Webb City location.
The guy working the drive-thru window was so profoundly stoned that he appeared to be buffering. We were mid-order when he just… stopped. No goodbye. No confirmation. Just silence. Like his soul left his body to go live más somewhere else.
We assumed maybe the headset died, so we pulled up to the window. Our total was $15.10. I handed him $16. He stared at it like it was a riddle written in ancient Sumerian. He made no move to give change. When I politely asked for my 90 cents, he looked personally offended that math had been reintroduced into his life. After a heroic internal battle, he produced some coins with the confidence of a man guessing on a game show.
Then I asked for the drink we ordered. This was apparently an act of aggression. He responded with the energy of someone who had just been accused of a crime they absolutely committed.
Finally, the food arrived. None of it was what we ordered. Not one item. It was like our order went through a teleportation device and came out as someone else’s regrets.
Honestly, it was such a disaster that it looped back around to being funny. If you’re looking for tacos, go elsewhere. If you’re looking for a surreal, live-action performance art piece about capitalism, marijuana, and the fragility of human cognition, this is the Taco Bell for you.
The lady at the front desk was nice, and even came and cleaned off our table before we started eating.
The atmosphere was okay.
I’d eat there again.
