Born and raised in a small town in West Virginia, Tabitha Craig brings East Coast flavor to our Midwest river town. Tab met her spouse, originally from the St. Louis area, while he was stationed in Maryland, and together they moved back, started going to church in Alton, Illinois, and fell in love with it. It has been Tab’s dream to own her own restaurant since she was a young girl. And, Alton seemed like the perfect place to bring that dream to life, thus Tab’s Café was born. You can expect a delicious Philly cheesesteak from Tab’s Café, along with other East Coast style offerings like loaded french fries, and chicken, steak, or shrimp kebabs.

Very Friendly and local business! Really laid back and calm with blues and jazz themed atmosphere along with a clean and rustic vibe. The tables have a really neat resin design on most of them and they have a little arcade machine too. A nice place to go to when you’re out on a walk or trying to find something relaxing.

Super cute place with such an amazing vibe. Love the music and the Vintage Music flyers / posters!!! I had the the loaded french fries and oh my goodness talk about amazing. Fries seasonded perfectly with ranch, cheese, bacon pcs and chicken bites.

This is a mom & pop type diner. Nice blues and oldies music playing. Self-serve coffee area. I ordered waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon & extra bacon. Everything was good, but my bacon was cooked a little too hard where it crumbled up.
We also ordered hashbrowns, turkey sausage and cream of wheat. Great customer service, friendly people and clean.

Overall, it is NOT GOOD: 20 minutes to get a Chicken Wrap and fries. Wrap was put together in a very sloppy way and was greasy and just looked very unappealing. The fries had a good flavor, but they were too limp for my taste.
Pros: 2 out of 3 of the staff I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Sweet tea was yum

Love the music decor and cozy atmosphere. The hostess was so welcoming and kind. The food was made fresh to order, I got the catfish. The seasoning on the fish and fries was delicious and portion sizes were perfect. I cleared my plate and left with a full belly. Grateful to have a place like this so close to home!

Hands down the best Philly Cheese I have ever eaten. And I am 54. My friend had the enormous burger and it filled him up. By the way he is 6’6″. If you love jazz this is your joint.
