A lovely spot for comforting, home-style South Indian food. We tried the dosa, idiyappam, thatte idly, paneer butter masala and chili paneer. everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The flavors were well balanced—not too spicy—so you could really appreciate the quality of the ingredients. The dosa was crisp, the idiyappam was soft and light, and the thatte idly had that perfect traditional texture. Even the chili paneer had great flavor without being overpowering. Overall, it felt like a wholesome, satisfying meal that reminded us of homemade food. Would definitely come back for their breakfast combo and thali meals .

I recently visited Tabla Restaurant on Olive, and honestly, it was one of the most satisfying Indian dining experiences I’ve had around St. Peters, Creve Coeur, Ballwin, and Maryland Heights. I’ve tried almost every Indian place in these areas — some have great street food flavor, others fine-dine presentation — but very few truly capture authentic Indian taste across all regions. Usually, you’ll find a restaurant that makes great biryani or South Indian food, but their Punjabi gravies taste South Indian, or the other way around. **Tabla** breaks that pattern. We ordered **Thatte Idli, Appam Veg Stew, Masala Dosa, Paneer Tikka Masala, Dahi Puri, Pani Puri, Vada Pav, and Paneer Crispy** — covering South Indian, North Indian, street food, and Indo-Chinese — and *every single dish* tasted authentic and beautifully balanced, as if cooked right back in India.

The **Dosa** had perfect spice proportions — flavorful yet light, with no extra oil or raw chewable *khada* spices that some places leave in. The **Sambar** had that rare combination of South Indian depth and West Indian (Gujarati) comfort — exactly how it tastes back home. The **chaats** — Dahi Puri and Pani Puri — were outstanding: crisp, fresh puris (not pre-fried), deliciously spiced dahi, and **super tangy pani served generously**, unlike many spots that serve barely any. The **Paneer Tikka Masala** had the perfect North Indian texture and flavor — rich, creamy, and consistent — and the **Vada Pav** was pure Mumbai nostalgia: simple pav, perfectly spiced batata vada, and the right amount of dry garlic chutney. Every dish was spot-on, each true to its regional origin. What I especially appreciated was the **menu** — diverse yet concise — featuring select dishes from across India so the chef can focus on what they do best. We’d been to a Maryland Heights restaurant with a huge, confusing menu, and Tabla’s focused approach clearly shows in the taste and quality.

On top of the amazing food, the **staff were warm, courteous, and attentive**, and both owners personally checked on every table. One of them, **Sri**, is also the **chef**, and it’s obvious he deeply understands the flavor profiles of different Indian regions — that knowledge shines in every dish. Overall, **Tabla** isn’t just another Indian restaurant; it’s a place that delivers authentic flavors from Mumbai to Chennai, all perfectly executed. If you truly miss the taste of India, **Tabla** is the one you need to try. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wish I lived closer to this establishment so I could frequentlymore regularly. Their breakfast options are sooo delicious and a great value. The appam with mutton stew was excellent with crispy yet chewy appam and fall off the bone mutton. On the weekends they offer set breakfast menus which are not only incredibly delicious, but a great value. I had difficulty choosing from the menu because there were so many good options. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Had lunch with friends at Tabla in Creve Coeur and wow—what a meal! The goat curry and goat fry were next-level tasty, packed with flavor. We also tried the veg thali, and it was really good too—great variety and authentic taste. Easily one of the best Indian lunches I’ve had in a while. Service was super friendly. Definitely coming back!

Tabla – is a very authentic South Indian restaurant. Their food is very tasty and genuinely authentic, I was a fan of their food when they were open in the Chesterfield mall. After the mall closed, they moved to this location on Olive.

I would recommend any Non-Vegetarian Thali. Their pricing is reasonable and the food portions are good. I will definitely come back again.

I would not recommend any of their specials. Their regular items are authentic.

Authentic south indian breakfast. We tried the masala dosa and Appam veg stew, both were really tasty and we are coming back for more.

Only one feedback I have is that they can work on their Indo-Chinese food, the gobi Manchurian we had ordered was bland and disappointing.

Excellent Indian food! Serving authentic south indian dishes, primarily from Karnataka. My new favorite indian restaurant in STL.
Thatte Idli and Onion Uttapam are a must try!
Over the weekends they open early in the morning and have great breakfast combo options.

I’ve been to Tabla a couple of times. Each time I’ve come back immensely happy with the food! Very authentic, flavorful, fresh and simply delicious! You can taste the effort that’s gone into making each dish. The service is excellent, the servers polite and very responsive. Definitely the best South Indian cuisine I’ve had in St Louis. Kudos to the team behind it!

I will start with the positives. The service was good, despite arriving during peak evening hours on a weekend, the staff was accommodating and arranged an extra table for our large group, even with limited space. The mutton thali, chole bhature, sabudana vada, and pani puri chaat were decent for the price and enjoyable.
Unfortunately, several dishes were very disappointing. The fish thali was a letdown. The fish curry tasted sour and felt more like fish fry served in something resembling sambar or rasam. The chicken tikka masala had a strong burnt odor, which made it unappetizing. The garlic naan was slightly undercooked. We also ordered Schezwan chicken noodles, which had a bad taste and a pungent smell, as if prepared using old or expired oil. Overall, my biggest concern is that some ingredients, especially the oil may not have been fresh, as the unpleasant odor carried across multiple dishes. I had higher expectations from a newly opened restaurant in a premium shopping location like the Creve Coeur/Olive Boulevard area.

Tabla will need to improve food consistency and quality to retain customers.Wishing them good luck and hoping to see improvements.

Great food and service. The garlic naan was worth the order. The chicken Tikka masala and butter chicken were both very good.
