I had a great time at Tabi-Ji! The service was great from start to finish. Our service was friendly, attentive, and she was on top of everything!

I ordered the Tabi-Ji Trio and the Assorted Sashimi Dinner, and both were delicious. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and full of flavor. This is definitely a spot with good quality food and the place was busy!

If you’re planning to sit at the hibachi grill, make sure to book a reservation since that area fills up fast! I would have wanted to sit in that area but did not have the time to wait.

Overall, this place had tasty food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. I would want to come back next time to sit at the hibachi grill area.

Family dinner for my cousin’s birthday. We were all excited since we haven’t been to a hibachi restaurant in years.

Parking: There is a medium sized parking lot. Parking is easy to find.

Ambiance/Environment: We visited during dinner time. There were a few other large families, so it wasn’t too busy. They have table seating for ordering a la carte, but it might take longer to be seated if you want to have a hibachi experience. The decor is nice, and the tables and chairs are also clean. Perfect spot for large families or a date night. They do take walk-ups, but reservations are highly recommended.

Service: Shout out to our chef Jose and server Patricia. Chef Jose was very interactive throughout the experience. He made it very fun. Patricia made sure our waters were filled and checked on us multiple times. Some bussers could work on their etiquette bc one busser rudely reached over my cousin and I without announcing himself to clear our empty plates.

Foods: Each of us ordered something different. Each of us ordered almost one of each protein. My cousin ordered the filet mignon and lobster. My other cousins ordered steak and Lemon Garlic Hibachi Chicken. I ordered the Tab-Ji Trio which included filet mignon, chicken breast, and shrimp. We opted in for fried rice for an additional $. The fried rice was cooked and seasoned well. The lobster tail looked small, but it was filling enough. The chef seasoned it with a generous amount of butter. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare, and that’s exactly what I got. It was very tender and delicious. The chicken and shrimp tasted as expected. Both were cooked well. My cousins also enjoyed their lemon garlic chicken. Some pieces need more seasoning, and the chef was nice enough to squeeze more lemon.

Pricing: Prices are as expected $$$ for this experience. We enjoyed our hibachi dinner. The food was delicious with great ambiance and exceptional service.

Amazing dinner date, the staff is so nice and the food is delicious. It was a pleasant surprise when the owner came to our table to ask how everything was and shared some amazing stories and recommendations. Highly recommend and I will be coming back!! Double shrimp roll, Tabiji Roll, and Super Crunchy Roll are fantastic!

Kabi-Ji was such a great time. We went for my wife’s 28th birthday and had a group of 12, so seating did take a bit, but honestly it was expected with a party that size. The staff was really sweet and super accommodating the entire time which made the wait feel way more chill. They were kind and on it from the jump. One thing that really stood out was the pricing. Getting filet mignon and scallops hibachi style with fried rice, salad, and soup for around 34 dollars? That is hard to beat, especially for the quality. Everything we ordered, from the steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, New York, and filet was cooked perfectly. The chef knew what he was doing and kept everyone at the table entertained and full. The fried rice was also really solid. Not too heavy on soy sauce or butter, which I liked a lot, and the portion was just right. The sauces they give you on the side always hit. That tangy or umami punch takes whatever you are eating to the next level, especially when paired with the shrimp or chicken.
Even the little things like the miso soup and salad with miso dressing were fresh and flavorful. Everything just came together nicely and I was honestly impressed. The whole experience had great energy, the food was top-tier, and it ended up being the perfect spot to celebrate my wife. I would one hundred percent recommend Kabi-Ji if you are looking for a fun hibachi dinner with solid portions, good prices, and a good time all around.

8/22/25: this was our first visit ever. We went in to celebrate my niece’s birthday. Party of 8! We sat at the grill and had the best service I’ve ever had! I am picky and I work in a service based industry. I was so impressed from the moment we walked in the gentleman who greeted and sat us was charismatic and so welcoming! The server Raphael was patient, kind and very attentive! Our chef Javier was amazing! He was funny, friendly and an excellent chef! He was so upbeat and made the experience so enjoyable! The gentleman who helped bus out table, Jonathan, was incredibly attentive, always had a smile and was so friendly. Overall the staff made our experience and my niece’s birthday extra special! This will be a new go to for good food and a friendly, fun and relaxing atmosphere thanks to the wonderful staff!!!

Tabi-ji is not just the greatest Teppanyaki restaurants in Orange County but it’s the greatest in all of California! I’ve been coming here for six years and never found another Teppanyaki place that can top this one in the entire state! While the food here is top tier and amazing, what it makes this restaurant so special is how super friendly, personable and hospitable the staff are. If you come here more than once, the staff here will remember you, your name and will treat you like family. All the chefs here are masterful at their craft and my favorite is the head Richard who will prepare your food to your liking. Like traditional Teppanyaki restaurants, your meal comes with soup, salad, steamed rice or you upgrade for fried rice, shrimp appetizer and hibachi. vegetables.
My personal favorites here are the châteaubriand paired with their hibachi chicken. The garlic butter they use here is the best tasting I’ve had anywhere and their ginger sauce and mustard sauce are out of this world and will give your meal those delicious umami flavors you find typically expect from in Japanese cuisine. If you’re tired of Benihana and looking for the ideal Teppanyaki restaurant is the restaurant must come to. He will never regret it.

This place is incredible every time we come. It’s relatively inexpensive, and the fish is as fresh as it gets in the states. The owner and the sushi chefs are friendly, fun, and humorous. The famous place down the street may have more flair, but you are certainly going to pay for it.
