We visited Taberu in January and had a wonderful experience. The ramen was absolutely delicious – perfectly balanced broth with great depth of flavor. The crispy prawn uramaki was a standout too, with excellent contrast between the crispy texture and fresh ingredients. The quality of the food really impressed us, and it’s clear why Taberu has become a go-to spot for Japanese cuisine in Oxford. We’ll definitely be back!

visit! I finally checked it out and was instantly won over by the fresh, welcoming atmosphere and the truly incredible food.
The service is exceptional. The servers are genuinely kind and helpful, making the whole visit feel comfortable and warm.
The food highlights were unforgettable: The unagi don was tender perfection, the signature TABERU roll was divine with fresh salmon inside and out, and the chicken karage was crisp, juicy, and pure comfort. Every dish was a winner!

Visiting Oxford for the day, we stumbled across this restaurant on our way home. We were initially seated by the front door and asked if we could move. We were told we could, but the table would be needed back within an hour, so we decided to stay where we were.
Five minutes later, we were delighted to be told there had been a cancellation and asked if we’d still like to move

We’ve been coming to Taberu for years, and we were so excited to see it reopen after the renovation — it was definitely worth the wait! The new interior looks amazing — stylish, warm, and with a real touch of Asia in the design. The sushi is as incredible as ever, and the spicy beef ramen is worth every penny. Definitely one of our favourite spots in Oxford!

Seated by the window which was very cold, but we were kindly allowed to move into a warmer seat. The food was tasty, but intensity of flavours were a bit underwhelming. The staff were very courteous, although they forgot one of the dishes which didn’t arrive until 40+ mins after ordering. Overall, a good experience, and the hojicha was very nice. Wings were a nice twist on the tebasaki dish, the ramen and curry were simple enough. Tempura was lovely.

As an Asian who frequently travels to Japan, this was the most authentic Japanese meal I’ve had in the UK. Their ramen had seasoned bamboo shoots, and the pork was traditional and pan-fried, so I was very satisfied. The salmon sushi roll was excellent, and the portions were generous.

I love the food here – it’s always delicious and presented really nicely. But since the refurb they play loud music with a beat all the time and it ruins the atmosphere (there’s even speakers above the toilets so no escape!). When I go out for dinner I want to relax, not dance at the table.
