They serve excellent quantity of tasty hot food! We tried for the first time and it was waooo! The ambience and decoration was awesome. We tried their chicken biriyani and special goat item. Carrot halwa as a dessert was too good.

I visited Tabaq for the first time today with my family. I have just immigrated from the GTA where we had countless restaurants who offered great halva puri. I was extremely pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality of breakfast here. Both the chana masala and the halva were very tasty and fresh and the puri was soft . The lachha paratha was very delicious as well along with the chai. Service was really prompt. We were served by both Fahad and Khalid uncle. Would definitely come again and highly recommend as well.

A Pleasant Dining Experience at a Pakistani Restaurant

I recently visited a Pakistani restaurant that left a positive impression with its overall dining experience. The interiors were thoughtfully designed, though perhaps slightly overdone with décor elements, giving the space a vibrant yet somewhat busy ambiance. Despite this, the restaurant offered a comfortable and inviting atmosphere suitable for both couples and large families.

The food quality was commendable, with a good balance of flavor and authenticity. The menu offered a range of dishes at reasonable prices, including several vegetarian options and even a dedicated kids’ menu — a thoughtful touch for families. The service was efficient, and the restrooms were well-maintained, reflecting the management’s attention to cleanliness and detail.

Overall, this restaurant provides a decent dining experience with tasty food, family-friendly facilities, and convenient parking. It’s a good option for those looking to enjoy traditional Pakistani cuisine in a welcoming environment.

Excellent food. The chicken karahi is really flavorful and tender. The chicken boti? is also super juicy and smoky. The manager, Kani, and the staff are super nice! The plate of white rice was extra but it’s big.
Came on New Year’s Day and there was understandably a 15 minute wait but it was worth it.

giving 2 stars only for the clean ambience / good first impression, and because a couple items were okay. I did not dine in, this was a large takeout order.

I was on an office trip in NY and I went out of my way to order from here so I could bring the food back to Boston. The place looked clean, ambience was good, and the first impression was genuinely positive. I was honestly happy — after years, I thought I finally found authentic Lahori food. I even left a $30 tip purely out of excitement and trust in the menu/reviews.

But the disappointment started on the train ride back. I tried a few bites and my heart sank. And when I opened all the dishes at home… OMG.

The food bill was $381.58, and with the $30 tip it came to $411.58. Add Uber from/to Penn Station (~$230 round trip), and the total spend/effort was roughly $640+. For that price, I kept thinking: “I paid almost $400 for the food…(650 for the whole trip, and you can imagine my excitement ) and this is what I got? :'(”

Some items were acceptable but nothing special (chicken kebabs/tikka). The chicken wings were from very large/giant chicken — yes it’s more meat, but the meat was tough and almost tasteless, that typical “giant chicken” texture/flavor.

The biggest issue was authenticity vs. what the menu claims. The menu advertises things like Bhaiyya Kababs, Butt Karahi, Siddique fish, etc. Those names mean something, and what I received didn’t match those flavors at all.

Butt Karahi: not karahi at all. It tasted more like an onion qorma-style curry than real Lahori karahi.
Full Rohu fish (Siddique fish style): major disappointment — it did not taste like authentic Lahori-style rohu fish you expect from that claim.
Beef Chapli Kabab: dry
Beef Bhaiyya Kabab: dry, hard, and almost tasteless
Even the bread was a letdown:
Roghni naan was like baked bread — not authentic naan (photo attached for reference).

Important: I’m not writing this to stop people from coming here. I want the owners to own the claims — because if you truly deliver what the menu advertises, food lovers will gladly go out of their way to eat here and remember it for years. But right now, it didn’t match the promise, and the disappointment was real.

Host and service is great. The food is amazing, not too spicy. Their lamb chops have always been great and today was no exception. We had the goat korma with sesame naan – we were scraping the plates clean. This has been and will always be one of my favorite spots on oak tree road in Edison.

It’s my first time visiting the restaurant and I can already say I’ll be coming back here as a regular. Khalid and Ali the managers here were absolutely spot on with their suggestions and we really loved the food here. We ordered a Yakhni Chicken Pulao, Chicken Karahi Special and in the tandoori we ordered the mix grill and Lahori Tikka. The meat was absolutely tender and juicy and all the dishes were super flavorful. To end the perfect meal, we ordered the desserts Gajar ka Halwa, Zafrani Kheer and Faloda. The desserts were the grand finale giving a perfect ending to a soul satisfying meal.
