What truly made the evening unforgettable was the service. The whole team was attentive and friendly, but we want to give a very special mention to Punnie, our server. She was incredibly kind, cheerful, and professional. She explained the dishes with great knowledge, made excellent recommendations, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. Her warm personality added so much to our experience.
Ta-Krai is definitely a place we highly recommend for anyone staying at the JW Marriott. Amazing food, beautiful atmosphere, and exceptional service — especially thanks to Punnie.
My friend, Sandrew (who insists I’m a hard taskmaster) is sickeningly positive about everything. He enjoys burnt food, particularly steak and has little appreciation for proper flavours or cuisine, and plays golf mostly from the rough, with minimal awareness of conditions. Yet even he would agree this place was exceptional — and that says a lot.
This was some of the best Thai food we’ve had, and an absolute must-try when in Khao Lak, Thailand.
I had two glasses of delicious Montes Chilean cab sav and husband had two different cocktails. Yuzu cocktail of the day was bland and watered down. Baan Buri was a winner post dinner, tasted like a liquid mango sticky rice.
Service was friendly and meant well but…
We had to follow up on our drinks and ice and they only arrived when our meal did.
The plates of ingredients to make the Khao soi were unceremoniously plunked down in front of us with no explanation of what they were or how to mix it all together.
The rice was dry and tasted stale. We noticed the rice was just sitting in pots at the back of the restaurant.
However, the Khao soi was magnificent, authentic to the traditional style we’ve had in northern Thailand and would return just for this.
Staff should have intervened when guests were having loud conversations on their devices and children were joining in, shouting and screaming.
Ambiance was not good because of this but would have been perfect without the uncivilised guests (adults, not the kids).
The food /drink ( pad krapao, mocktail and sweets tasting platter) and pond ( my server ) made my experience incredible.
I would definitely go again
