We were looking for a family restaurant near the aquarium. We found this place. Good food that takes a little bit to come out because it’s made to order. The food was good and service was spot on. They have a good menu selection here for everyone. I would give them 8 out of 10 stars.

What an absolutely charming and FRIENDLY place! Everyone greeted us and were genuinely happy we were there. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS! We have a handicapped daughter with special dietary needs, and Jesus, our server, checked her allergies with the chef. She had the salmon patty special, which was perfectly prepared to the consistency she needed. It looked so good, so we all tried it…it was superb!!
I had the steak quesadilla, and the meat was so tender, it practically melted in my mouth. My husband had the shrimp and it, too, was absolutely delicious! Even the homemade coleslaw that came with it tasted wonderful! We saved room for desserts and were blown away by the selection and taste. It was hard to decide there were so many mouth-watering choices…I had creamsicle cake, it was absolutely heavenly. The taste and texture was perfect! My husband had the 12-layer cake…yes, that many layers. Such a pleasure to eat that moist, flavorful treat. Again our daughters needs were perfectly met with a smooth banana pudding with a surprise at the bottom! Apparently the desserts come from the local bakers! To round out this experience we had the most delightful server, Jesus. His sense of humor, attention to detail, and sincere desire to please, put him at the top of our list of “best service of all time.” Our evening ended with a check-in by the owner (I think that’s who it was) making sure we were happy. It was a perfect way to start our Outer Banks vacation. We will definitely be back!

Awesome food staff and atmosphere. A local place that puts pride in their food and southern hospitality. Decent portions very good pricing and food quality. I eat there on a regular when I’m in the outer Banks. Highly recommend.

I ordered a French dip, which was not prepared in a manner consistent with the dish. The sandwich consisted of plain ground hamburger meat with melted cheese and was of very poor quality. I was unable to eat the meal.
When I went to pay, the individual who rang me out—who appeared to be the owner or manager—handled the interaction in an unprofessional manner. After presenting the card reader with a tip prompt, she commented, “Oh, so you left a cash tip on the table?” when no tip was selected. I asked whether tipping was mandatory, to which she responded that the servers earn only $2 per hour.
While I understand industry wage structures, it is not appropriate to pressure or guilt customers into leaving a tip—particularly after an unsatisfactory dining experience. Compensation policies are a management responsibility and should not be conveyed to customers in this way.
This interaction, combined with the poor food quality, reflects a lack of professionalism and customer care. I hope management will address both food standards and staff conduct to prevent similar situations in the future.

We were so impressed with the service and food here! We were traveling with a large group so we called several hours in advance to ensure they would be about to accommodate us and not only were they accommodating but also extremely patient, kind, and understanding as a majority of our group were teenagers. So thank you thank you thank you from Troop 500G!

It’s not the best, but not the worst. Must be a popular spot because it was busy, but it was really just okay. We need to stop for lunch and debated just going to McDonald’s… if you see my reviews, I would have rather just gone to the McDonald’s across the street for a quick lunch. Had the whole family, and we wanted something different, so we ate here. The food was very basic. It was nice to get a chicken wrap instead of the usual McDouble, but again, everything was pretty basic. Basic home cooking in restaurant form.

TL’s has awesome breakfast food! I got a T shirt the first time I went. It ain’t fancy but it’s good! I had some perfectly delicious fried scallops and a side of grits for dinner, yum! The cutest and best waitress dear too, her little carolina accent was sweet. I’ve only been twice, but it’s a convenient location at the start of Manteo, which is a lovely little town away from the main beach islands. I’d recommend it for its no frills and friendly atmosphere with some good food, it ain’t fancy but it’s just right if you want sumpin good to eat and relax, old folks style. It reminded me of some small town local eats from my side of town up in Virgina.
Oh yeah and the banana pudding was worth the stop✋️ Going back next time I’m “down that way.”
Stop in TL’s for something good to eat and take a break

Great country home cooking, reminds me of home. The hamburger steak and prime rib sandwich are always amazing . A big selection of homemade desserts also.

It’s a local diner and exactly what you’d expect of it. I had their flagship burger and fries. The burger was good, but nothing I’d write home about. The fries were mid, at best. The service was top-notch though and our waitress was super sweet and attentive without being TOO attentive. It was clean, not wildly busy (LOTS of pick-up orders!), and just a nice spot to stop after a day of exploring the island.
