First of all, the beef lo mein smells like a wet gym sock. Not even edible. I can’t even describe it. It’s absolutely awful. Everything else tastes sub par at best. Fried rice is ok. Szechuan chicken was pretty good but something was off. Chicken and string beans taste the best, but chicken was cut way too big, some pieces could have been used for cutlets. Chinese pizza and egg roll tasted like old oil.
I never bash a restaurant, and I feel bad for writing this, but this is the most disappointing meal I have ever had from a place that almost always is above standard quality.
Hopefully they work out their issues and go back to the Szechuan Hill we know and love.
We’ve eaten in here before and have ordered takeout from here for years.
I don’t know what was going on with them tonight but our visit was quite disappointing!
First of all the server wasn’t friendly and acted surprised that we were dining in and as if we were busting her groove.
Especially when we were asking for recommendations for the meal. Nevertheless we were nice to her. She rolled her eyes when my husband asked for lemon for our tea and she didn’t give it to us either.
My husband and I ordered the Pu Pu platter and some chicken and shrimp dish to share. First the fried crispy things w/sauce were horrible. They tasted like they were fried in rancid oil and the sauce was bland.
The things on the Pu Pu platter were just as bad and bland.
The ribs and teriyaki skewers were hard and dry. The fried shrimp was doughy inside. The others were not worth mentioning.
Only the spring rolls that we substituted for the egg rolls were pretty good although oily.
The entree was okay and I’d never order it again. It was some kind of combo meal served on one plate. Chopped chicken in a Tso’s sauce next to shrimp and bok choy in a white garlic sauce with a tiny bowl of rice. It might have been better if it was served on a larger plate and we could have spread it out.
When we asked for more napkins she said we already had one and gave us tiny little ones and not another big one that our silverware was wrapped in. And when we asked for soy and other sauces she balked about that as well.
We reluctantly left a tip.
All this to say we won’t be going back any time soon if ever.
The pork dumplings could be a meal in themselves. Definitely share them.
I’ll order again.
If you’ve never eaten here try their BBQ ribs or Spring roll or General Tso’s chicken with any combination of rice you’d like. I promise it’s good!
