Tried Szechuan Chinese restaurant in Lakewood thanks to this sub

It was so good. My husband was craving general Tso’s chicken and I wanted noodles. Also got the salt and pepper wings just to try.

Possibly some of the worst Chinese food we’ve had in the United States. Our family has had our share of subpar, Americanized fare dubbed “Chinese,” but this one takes the cake. The eggplant with minced pork was dry and bland, so bland, not even the hot chili sauce we asked for to remedy it gave it any flavor. But somehow the dish was dark, as if it’d been seasoned with soy sauce (it wasn’t). This leads me to believe they use food coloring, which is scary to even consider. Next, it’s the mapo tofu, which didn’t look nor taste like mapo tofu. Again, bland to the extreme, and dark (but no flavor). They used firm tofu which isn’t customary for this dish, but that’s easily overlooked if the food tastes good. It didn’t. The potstickers were chewy and dry, not a single vegetable to be found in the filling. My Chinese husband, who has a good appetite, barely touched the food. Neither did I. I did notice our guardian angels tried to save us from this horrible meal by hiding the restaurant (busted neon sign), but to our detriment, we persevered. Do yourself a favor: drive a couple more miles near Federal and Alameda, and have your pick. This is NOT, and I mean NOT Chinese food, but subpar, sugar-laden, bland Americanized fare.

We got take out from here and when we went to pick it up the restaurant smelled so good! The food did not disappoint! Best wontons I’ve had and the sesame chicken had a good seasoning/spice to it. My wife and I will definitely be back for more.

As a New Yorker I am hard to please when it comes to Chinese food. Having lived in Colorado for 10 years so far I am confident that this is the best Chinese restaurant I’ve tried!

This is a little gem that’s been around for years my buddy took me to. You’re not going here for the ambiance. If you want a wide variety of Chinese foods at a decent price, this is the place to go.
First I had to ask if that was the name of the restaurant and they said yes…
Bathrooms could be renovated. They weren’t super inviting.
The meal was good. Service was quick and prompt. No nonsense and had plenty of left over to take home. I would go back but probably not on a date night
There was more seating than I thought on the inside you walk in and it’s got another pretty big room so it’s not as small as the outside looks.

Great food. Went for lunch and had a great lunch special which included a soup, rice, crispy egg roll and a delicious spicy garlic dish. Prices very reasonable. I’ll be back to try many more dishes.

Hard to assess this place. We ordered takeout on Christmas day or Eve and everything was backed up for hours. They told us it would be 90 minutes to get the food and it took 2 hours longer than that. Once we got it though, the food was delicious.

We ordered the House Special Dinner and got the Szechuan Beef and Happy Family. The hot and sour soup was very good with a little kick for sure. It drained my sinuses! Very good!
The pu-pu platter have us a great variety of their appetizers. Portions were very large and the price very reasonable for the amount of food you get. (I forgot to take pictures of the entrees.)

My daughter says she orders from here at least once a week. The restaurant seemed fairly full to me for a Sunday night however she said it’s usually a lot more busy if that tells you how popular it is.

Szechuan is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Denver metro area. I have not found a place with better hot and sour soup — it’s the perfect amount of spicy, and I crave it when I have a head cold. Their honey shrimp is also so special and delicious. I always enjoy your fantastic service. When I lived in Lakewood, takeout was always only a 20 minute wait.

Great food.

We have been eating here for nearly 2 decades.

The food always really good.
It is our favorite Chinese restaurant and we drive about 45min to get here.

The service varies per visit.
We miss former staff members, they alway provided great customer service, they made the visit even more enjoyable.

Clean restaurant.

I used to love this place 20-30 years ago. Unfortunately last night’s food was so salty it was inedible. I had the egg drop soup which had hard pre-frozen peas in it then had the shrimp in lobster sauce. I could hardly stand the soup and stopped eating it after 2 bites. The shrimp in my dish was cooked perfectly and the flavor was amazing , unfortunately was ruined by insane heavy salt. Disappointed.
