We tried Sze Chuan on co-worker recommendation and we really enjoyed it. We tried spicy pork dumplings ( don’t question, you need to order), beef dry pot, pork lo mein, shrimp fried rice, Fish Fei Teng, shanghai greens.
Food is freshly prepared, great flavors. Keep in mind that the specialty are spicy szechuan dishes. Restaurant is accommodating less less spicy requests. If you’re curious to try authentic Chinese food, this is the place. Bring a party of 4-6 and ask staff for recommendations. Portions meant for sharing. Visit Asian grocery store and bakery next door.

We’d been searching for a new Chinese restaurant and stumbled upon this gem online. We placed an order for pickup and were pleasantly surprised by the bustling atmosphere when we arrived. The food exceeded our expectations! The beef fried rice, house rice, and egg rolls were all incredibly fresh and delicious. The service was fast and convenient. We’re thrilled to have found our new go-to spot in West Allis. If you’re looking for authentic, tasty Chinese food, look no further! We’ll be back for sure.

I got the Crispy salty fried squid and it was very good. The restaurant itself was very busy and luckily there was seating. The restaurant is pretty small and is decently packed but I would say the food is worth it 100%.

Wowow. I am still drooling thinking about the incredible food here.

We came on a Tuesday night with a party of 6 and were seated right away. From the moment we walked in we were greeted right away and the servers came by to check on us several times to refill our water (always a must).

We started with appetizers of spicy pork dumplings and egg rolls. The dumplings were incredible. They were so flavorful in the chili sauce. The egg rolls were also very delicious with a perfectly thin/crispy wonton.

For the main food everything was incredible! You must come with an appetite to share these generous portions of food. Our group favorites were the sliced beef in chili pepper soup, twice cooked pork, and crispy chicken in garlic sauce. The mapo tofu in pork was also incredible in addition to their fried rice and dry chili fish filet (although too spicy for me!)

One of our fortune cookies was soggy but other than that our experience was incredible with the delicious food. I cant wait to come back to my new favorite Chinese restaurant.

After living in Asia and reading reviews, I was eager to try Sze Chuan. This is one of very few places that has crispy squid with chili. It was excellent. I ordered the spicy dumplings that were tender and flavorful with garlic, though the broth was very soy forward. I was first delighted to see & order and then absolutely horrified attempting to eat the dry chili chicken. The flavor is exactly as it should be, but there is no chicken, except TINY TINY fingernail size BITS that are so rubberized you’ll pick them out of your teeth for weeks. I advised that the ratio of pepper to tiny chicken was an unpleasant error and was advised, “That’s how we make it.” (And although I didn’t eat, but 3 bits was charged full price). I watched nearly every other table eating orange or sesame chicken and cannot for the life of me figure out why they would not use the same NORMAL size chicken pieces. (And when you see the photo, ya gotta ask why they waste so much pepper.) Each main dish comes with white rice, but I was served only one and had to request the second.
