Went there for lunch and was recommended by a close trusted friend.
Service was great but the prices are high unless you order from the Lunch Menu. Their menu is very large but you need to refer to the pictures because their website only shows their drinks. The atmosphere is cool, food quality was fine, but I wish they had more appetizers, ramen or udon soups.

I am a little surprised that they have so many authentic Japanese traditional cousins available. I ordered Saikyo Miso Yaki Cod and Salmon Zosui. I love both especially the cod. The fish skin is crispy and the cod meat is very tender and juicy, it’s just perfect.

Restaurant appeared small as you enter. Once in, you make a quick right down a few steps. Yet not knowing without walking across the end of the room, another dining area seats several more tables.
Besides the hidden extension, where we sat 10 feet from the steps is a raised area with about four tables for customers as well.
My husband noticed, the wall behind where I sat, seems to house a long rectangular unit that may be a radiator to hear the restaurant… not sure. Interesting ambience. He also pointed out the Hispanic employees behind the sushi bar.

Impeccable service and delicious food! Really wonderful restaurant so glad we stopped by. I forgot to take photos of everything, but these were our appetizers. It’s the best tempura I’ve had in Portland so delicious and crispy not greasy. Sushi was excellent quality and expertly made. Highly recommended!

Husband and I were visiting from Salem, in the area to buy a car. Decided last min to eat here and we’re happy we did! It’s in the basement of a charming building, and the atmosphere was perfect and relaxing. Seems you can enter from two different doors/sides of building. Service was friendly, professional and quick. Food waa delicious. Would definitely go back for a nice date.

Been going here for over 30 years! Always a sweet place in my heart for Syun. They have a wonderful staff and a quaint atmosphere. If you’re in the mood for a delicious Japanese meal or a sushi Delight, I highly recommend you check this place out. They are small, but they take reservations and they have a room you can use with long tables for group dining or a birthday celebration. I went to celebrate my birthday with two dear and close friends and had a wonderful meal! Great variety, excellent specialties and even better service! Highly recommend checking out their great selection of Sake’s and specialty cocktails, their rolls are awesome and very pretty! Made me want to eat more than I could have. Haha! Extremely disappointed by the service received! Came here once 3 years ago and it was way better back then. Sad to see that this place is not the same.
Our server maybe said a few words to us at most, did not smile one time, and she looked miserable to be working there. The food is pretty decent, but for the high prices you’re better off going to another restaurant with much better service!

This place has been in the area for a long time so I decided to try and I was satisfied. I ordered a 10 pieces of mixed nigiri sushi and they were fresh, delicious and worth the price. The ring of fire (Sushi rolls) was very good too with a nice presentation. If you passby the town in Hillsboro and cave for sushi, this place might be among the top lists too.
