Established in 1948, Sycamore Drive In is an old-fashioned ice cream custard shop located in Demotte, Indiana. Got vanilla dairy free root beer float for my girlfriend and I and it was terrible! The ice cream was freezer burnt and icy, not creamy, and had a horrible taste. Nice fast service but don’t offer dairy free please if it’s going to taste awful. There are so many good dairy free ice cream products out there so please do better sycamore drive in. I could’ve saved $ and made my own!

This is our “go to” for ice cream and yogurt! They have a different flavor or the day(seasonal f.o.d. menu available for pre planning). Toppings, and add ins are usually very generous. My personal favorites are the “big bubbas” turtle, and now caramel apple with pecans, and extra caramel.

Amazing waffle fries, good polish, other half liked his burger and BBQ, and you KNOW the ice cream is good when a lactose intolerant person is going back for more. Definitely will stop again when coming through town again.

Cute little drive-in with two windows for ordering from your car (one on each side of the building), as well as walk-up windows in the front. I had chocolate custard in a waffle cone. The cone was nothing to write home about, but the custard was smooth, creamy and not too chocolatey (something I tend to dislike with chocolate custard). Being from Wisconsin, custard is our jam, so I speak with experienced taste buds. My husband gave high praise for his peanut butter malt as well. The young lady at the window was friendly, patient and accommodating (even let my husband try the jumbo size cup in his cup holder to see if it would fit). If you’re on the freeway like we were, this is an easy on-off for a cold treat on a very hot day.

Paid almost ten bucks for “deluxe” nachos and ice cream cone dipped in butterscotch. The best part of the so called deluxe nachos was the jalapenos and those came from a jar. All I tasted was salt and it seemed like sloppy Joe sauce instead of chili. I can get better ice cream and nachos for a better price at the gas station. Lived in the area for years and heard good things, so I decided to give it a try. I was completely let down. I will not be going back.

Love, love, love this place! The double drive up is very convenient. The customer service provided by their young adult employees is beyond impressive and commendable. They have unique ice cream flavors as well as traditional and common confections. Highly recommend for a sweet treat!

Good for tourists, not for locals. Food is seriously not worth the money. Just order a BBQ sandwich and you’ll know what I mean. The soup may be the only hot item worth the money. The ice cream is good though!
