Reviews
Ordered their hotpot and ingredients inside were not fresh at all!! Lotus was completely black and soggy as if it was leftover food from days ago. They mentioned short rib beef slices but it was actually just regular stir fry beef.
We trusted the reviews but ended up being scammed. They are so many more chinese restaurants that are way better and serves fresh food!! Avoid this place at all cost.
The meal begins with traditional peanuts tossed in chili oil — fragrant, fiery, and addictive. They set the tone for what’s to come. I opted for the “mild” soup base, which proved to be anything but restrained. On a personal heat scale, it registered at a solid nine. While admirably authentic in its assertiveness, the spice level bordered on overwhelming and at times muted the natural flavors of the meats and vegetables simmering within.
The appetizer selection is unexpectedly creative. The corn pudding nuggets — breaded and fried to a crisp golden shell — offer a sweet counterpoint to the pervasive heat. Crisp on the outside, moist and tender inside, they’re a playful and satisfying start.
Vegetable preparations were particularly strong. The bok choy stood out as one of the best I’ve had: vibrant, properly cooked, and deeply flavorful. The Mapo Dofu was executed with confidence, balancing numbing heat and savory depth in proper proportion.
Not every dish reached that level. The Chongqing chicken, traditionally a showcase of crisp morsels buried under chilies, was mostly toward skin and bone with minimal meat — a disappointing interpretation of the menu picture .
The cumin lamb was well-seasoned and aromatic, while the pork dish featured noticeably fatty cuts, suggesting a lower grade selection that may not appeal to all diners.
Service exceeded expectations for a busy Chinese restaurant. Staff were attentive and accommodating, readily adjusting dishes upon request.
Overall, this is a destination for diners who crave serious heat and aren’t afraid of bold, uncompromising spice — just be prepared for the fire to take center stage.
Chongqing Chicken – exceptional flavor although the
chicken has bone
Mapo Tofu – the usual typical. Nothing different. Decent taste
The mini hotpot (spicy broth) – consisting of several meat/veggies options. Very
