What a gem of a find in Nashville! Homestyle southern cooking…..delicious! We have the pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, Pinto beans, cornbread and dinner roll. Everything was excellent! Friendly service and a cool vibe.

Very reasonably priced “meat & three” soul food with a great variety of home-cooked choices served cafeteria style. They must be doing something right to still be in business since 1954.

A comfortable dining area greets you when you enter the restaurant. Nice folks working the cafeteria line. It’s clean and well run. So many delicious choices from the main courses, the scrumptious sides, roll or cornbread pancake, and tempting desserts. Even the choices of drinks available. Great food, great portions and an even greater value. I am so glad I went and I am grateful to the folks who work here for making my stay so pleasant! Update April 2024 We got the fried chicken and two sides for $13.25! The fried chicken was perfect. The turnip greens were tender and delicious. Fried apples, sweet potatoes and the cornbread pancake were all great. The food tastes so familiar because it’s homemade with solid ingredients and a nice recipe. I was protecting my food when I was eating it because it was so good and I didn’t want to share it with my dining companion. That’s when you know it’s good! It was another perfect southern cooked meal!

I haven’t eaten here in years, when my sister in law suggested it for a quick lunch and the fact that it was a meat and three made it a more attractive option.
We arrived to find a clean and free parking area with ample parking.
There are signs inside that clearly indicate the path you should follow to the serving line.
There were lots of entre choices from meatloaf to liver and onions.
As for vegetables, there was a large assortment of options that all looked delicious.
There was sweet cornbread, or what i would guess was hot water cornbread, and of course there were dinner rolls.
Sweet and unsweetened tea, lemonade, and the usual fountain drinks.
The food was good and the atmosphere was good…quiet enough to have a conversation with those you were dining with.
I will be back to sample other items on the menu.

My family and I moved near the Swett’s corner about six years ago and we walk over to the restaurant on the weekends for lunch. The atmosphere walking in is a little nostalgic with its cafeteria still dinner, and the smell of the food just so inviting. Walking up to the line and waiting, you pass through this wall of fame where they have autographed photos of all the famous people that have dined there throughout years, almost like walking through a time machine. Finally you grab your try and untencils and are mediately brought back to reality by the smell and sight of the wonderful and delicious southern food down the line. Your greeted by the nice ladies working the line and are ready to make your dreams come true (culinary wise). Besides the food being so delicious the portions are healthy enough to go home and take a nap, and if your asking yourselves what the prices are like it doesn’t matter its worth it trust me. We recommend 10/10. So we’ll see you there this weekend!!!

Everyone knows that my dad (especially) & fam miss The original D&S formerly known as K&W cafeteria back home in NC. They closed all of the locations and My dad was there weekly faithfully amongst many others!
Well, when I was planning the itinerary for our family trip to Nashville, TN I was intentional about finding something for everyone to enjoy even if I couldnt eat the food lol. I came across, Swett’s Cafeteria and boy was my dad happy!
They are good & they had it all… Fried Chicken, Beef tips, Pinto Beans, Liver, Po’k Chops, Rice, Gravy, Mac, Salisbury steak, Baked chicken, yams, turnip greens, collard greens, potato salad all types of cakes and pies, co’n bread all you can think of and they enjoyed it!
I learned that they were black owned until recently when they sold the company!
I was just glad to be able to put a smile on their faces and to bring a sense of comfort and nostalgia as well! Goal accomplished! I’ll do anything for the fam!

Oh my!!! Delish, yumtastic! Food serve “cafeteria” style so suggest making selection while in line. I had smothered pork chop, greens & rice and wife had fried chicken, greens and mac-n-cheese. Tasted everything and would definitely get the fried chicken next time in Nashville. Hot roll was super fresh and tasted like soaked dough in butter before baking. Love, love, lover this place!

Exceptional very exceptional experience from walking in the door to walking back out! Me and my wife have been wanting to eat here and finally got the opportunity this afternoon! The ladies serving the food were as sweet nice and helpful as could be! The food was delicious just absolutely what I wanted and needed! Reminded me of growing up and eating grandma’s cooking! Food was seasoned just right and cooked perfectly! If you are looking for good down home cooking look no further! This will be our regular spot from now on!! Everything is priced very reasonable the quality and quantity is 10/10. Definitely recommend!
