Sweet Wheat Bakery is an authentic French artisan bakery founded by brothers Romain and Alexandre Lecat. After training in top Paris baking schools, we brought the taste of true French bread and pastries to the South Bay. At our first location in Redondo Beach, we bake fresh croissants, baguettes, artisan sourdough, pastries, sandwiches, salads, and specialty coffee daily using imported French flour and traditional long fermentation. Enjoy an authentic French bakery and café experience, dine in, grab & go, or order online. Bienvenue!

Sweet Wheat in Redondo Beach is a thoughtfully designed bakery that strikes a comfortable balance between cozy and spacious. They had a special Buy 3 Get 1 Free Viennoiserie, which came out to 15.35 after taxes. For pastries, that’s a great deal! I ordered the Salted Caramel Apple Cake, Kouign-Amann, Almond Chocolate Croissant, and The Pain aux Raisins.

I ordered the pastries online and stopped by to pick them up, finding the space lively with several groups both inside and outside. There’s plenty of seating, making it a solid place to enjoy a pastry while working on a laptop. The atmosphere feels warm and inviting without being cramped, and the holiday music added a seasonal touch.

The Salted Caramel Apple Cake stood out with its layered textures: a soft, pumpkin-pie-like center and a chewy apple-forward top. Rich and well-balanced, it earns an 8.5/10.

The Pain aux Raisins had good softness and plenty of raisins, though the flavor leaned heavily on them alone. 8/10.

The Kouign-Amann delivered good interior crispness, but the caramelized top was overly hard, lowering its appeal—7.75/10.

The Almond Chocolate Croissant had a pleasing texture, but the almond and chocolate combination didn’t quite come together, earning a 7.5.

Would it comes back? Sure, if I’m in the area and craving pastries. But overall, it fell short of making my rotation of pastry shops / boulangerie. Nevertheless, I had a positive experience here.

This is a nice, charming coffee shop by the ocean with tasty French bites. It’s clean, has friendly service with menu prices a little bit on the high side.

Dietary restrictions: The items are clearly labeled with allergen information. It makes it so much easier and safer to choose what to eat without guessing.

Parking: There’s a small lot behind the shop and some street parking, though it can be tough to find a spot when it’s busy.

Kid‑friendly: They have stylish highchairs (without seat buckles) and not much space inside for kids to move around, but the terrace feels more kid‑friendly.

Outdoor seating: The outside area is lovely with a nice ocean breeze, but it can get windy at times or a bit noisy from the nearby road.

Sweet Wheat is more than just a bakery; it’s a neighborhood treasure. It’s the perfect spot for a morning treat, a weekend indulgence, or to pick up a dessert that will truly impress. Go see for yourself why this place has earned a reputation for having the best pastries and croissants around!

10/10. The food is high quality and actually tastes fresh—you can tell they put real care into the ingredients. Everything from the bowl to the dessert was balanced and perfectly prepared. Big shoutout to Tristan for the service; he’s attentive, friendly, and clearly takes pride in what he does. Highly recommend.

Wanted to try a new bakery. Came here to get some French pastries and yummy savory sandwiches.

We got the Lorrain quiche, ham, egg and cheese croissant, a baguette. I forget what the cherry/ raspberry dessert is call but it was super light and yummy. Not overly sweet. The White chocolate pistachio cookie wasn’t good which is my drop in stars. It was too crumbly, had no flavor, and super super dry. Texture and taste was like sand. Would not recommend any of the ❌. Both savory items were actually delicious and also like that they ask if you want it heated but my only concern is that it’s been sitting out too long (so make sure to ask) or see if they can make a fresh one (doubt it but never hurts to ask).

Also got fresh orange juice (small bottle) and a lavender honey latte (not enough espresso), both were very mediocre. Everything was overly priced.

This location has parking (limited) but there is parking. The person helping us seems lackluster, sweating and didn’t feel like he wanted to be there but we got our things pretty quick though. All in all, Great ambiance outside and indoor seating which is nice. Probably won’t be back. But for a 1st time – okay 3/5

I ordered a delicious Chocolate French Toast pasty, a mocha, and a small orange juiceball for a reasonable price of under $12. Everything was delicious! Highly recommend if in the area.

Nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor patio.
It’s very clean and the staff is super friendly and helpful.

Their pastries are delicious. The savory food on the other hand is just ok, unfortunately.
The sandwiches are already prepped and placed in the display. Once you order anything, they’ll heat it up for you. It’s not the same as if it’s made fresh to order.

The indoor seating is nice. Outdoor patio would be great if it wasn’t for the loud traffic on PCH.

I would still recommend this restaurant.

Sweet Wheat used to be our just stop place when we visit RB. This time we were very disappointed by the food. The staff was never friendly but their potions have been significantly downsized and the bread is frozen, not fresh. Overall it is way less good. They don’t even offer salt. Very disappointing. I don’t think we will be coming back. Too bad it used to be the best patisserie we knew. The owners are not around anymore and it shows!
