Lovely new pastry shop/ boulangerie in Culver City, prime location and well designed space, literally feels like a French cafe, the selection is large and had to try a couple of things, the sandwiches are good, coffee delicious but the viennoiseries are so so, especially the chocolate twist with a custard in it felt like it wasn’t backed inside and the lamination was barely there, custard tasted off, watery. Other than that the service was great and loved the atmosphere, I would go back to try something else but hope they’ll work on their viennoiseries.

I went in opening day and it was a good experience. I understand that they just open so there was some things to work through such as the card readers not working properly.

They need more signage at the entrance as the ordering process is a little bit confusing, especially if you got one of the deals where they don’t tell you which pastries is applicable.

There’s tons of seats outside but there’s not enough umbrellas so half of the seating is too bright/hot.

The interior is simple, modern, yet definitely feels authentically french.

I would definitely recommend entering from the entrance that is on the corner and not the one directly on Culver Boulevard, Since the line takes over that whole doorway on the Culver Blvd side

It’s nice having a nice French bakery in town. I really hope it works out well for this location.
The croissants, breads, and pastries are all delicious!

The prices here are very nice, and not too expensive!

As a biker they didn’t have any bike parking located in front of the restaurant which is something that they need to work on if they want more locals biking to their bakery!

Sooo many options for pastries, sandwiches and more baked goodies. I did want to try there soup as i didn’t want to get if I didn’t like it but the employee said I couldn’t sample. I dont know…I would have gotten if she let me try it to make sure I liked. But I wasnt going to pay that much for soup to possibly not like it. The pastries we got were delicious.

This patisserie is beautiful! I’ve been to Patisseries in Versailles and Paris. Beautiful but allow smoking! Sweet Wheat is sweet smelling- no cigarette smoke! Browsing the different pastries was like looking at jewels in the jewelry shop. We tried their brunch option with a savory choice, a pastry and a latte. Just wonderful! Christmas songs in French was a treat! It is definitely a do again. In fact I signed up for their loyalty program. It will take many visits to try everything!

Love this place for the great coffee, excellent pastries, and super friendly service! Lucie and Larina have been a regular part of my mornings now for the past month+ and they never let me down. The long hours are also super nice so it’s a dependable spot to go to in Culver

The vibes were immaculate. I went on a Thursday morning around 8AM. They opened Monday so I think they figured out the kinks or the hype died down. The $11 quiche Lorraine was rich, creamy and fluffy. The almond croissant stole the show compared to the chocolate and plain. The almond filling was balanced and you could taste the almond extract or whatever they used. I should’ve ordered a drink to enjoy my work from home breakfast but I was in a rush to get to a teams meeting. I’d come back for sure and try the other savory items. They had a lot of vegetarian savory items too!

Sweet Wheat in Culver City feels like a little French bakery dropped into downtown, with a relaxed, neighborhood vibe and plenty of outdoor seating for people-watching, catching up with a friend, or parking a laptop for a bit. The pastry case is stacked, but I go straight for the mini almond and mini chocolate almond croissants. They are exactly what I want in an almond croissant, crunchy and shattery on the outside, soft and buttery inside, with an almond filling that tastes like real almond cream.

The buy three, get one free deal on the minis is quietly fantastic, especially if you like to mix and match or bring a small box home. Beyond the croissants, they have breads, quiche, sandwiches, and a decent coffee setup, so you can make this a quick pastry stop or a light meal spot before wandering around Culver City.

I visited not long after they opened and love that they’re open early in the morning. Ordered a bunch of sweet pastries, a baguette sandwich, and everything was great. Really liked the canele’s which are hard to find elsewhere. Their coffee drinks weren’t notable (came from a machine) but that’s not really the draw considering the spread of sweets available. Really liked the ambiance and the ample seating both inside and outdoors. It’s a great brunch/cafe addition to the area! I visited at 7:30am so it wasn’t crowded, but I imagine it’d get a bit busier around brunch/lunch.

Everything was fine until I started eating the steak and cheese sandwich. Unfortunately, it tasted unusual, and the meat smelled not fresh, so I was unable to finish it.
Additionally, I found a hair in my order. The cashier, who was both serving the food and handling the payment, has long, loose hair. For hygiene purposes, hair should be properly covered while preparing or serving food.

Thank you.

From Redondo Beach to Culver City, here Sweet Wheat came with its brand new location, which thankfully is way closer for me! Being a regular around the area, I have seen multiple establishments came and went away on the same space. Not complaining certainly as it just meant another new one to try, and now that it’s Sweet Wheat, absolutely thrilled!

The options they offered were nothing less than rich. Lots of pastries and cakes to try with even good deals (free 1 of a-kind) f you ordered beyond 3 pieces. It’s interesting that some pastries were offered in petite size. I know the Redondo one provided online pre-order option so I assumed they likely brought that to this newly opened one as well, including the longer operational hours.

It’s right across the Culver Steps so very easy to find. Many parking garage nearby at affordable rates if you couldn’t find street parking.

They’re super early bird, opening their door from 6:30 AM. Surprisingly it’s already kind of busy even before eight, but service was speedy and deserving 2 thumbs up. I tried to make a stop during my run and ended up finding myself in trouble bringing back a huge bag of pastries.

Some of those I got:
Mini Almond croissant 3.5/5 (maybe 4 if reheated)
Pain au Choc 3.5/5
Canele 3/5
Blueberry Madeleine 3.5/5
Chocolate French Toast 4/5

The croissants were delicious and properly stuffed even the mini ones, which was a rare find. If they could be reheated I could see them knock it off the park. Canele was decent with crunch outside and chewy inside, but I wouldn’t call it my top list. The blueberry madeleine to my surprise got me pleased, prolly with the extra stuffing that elevated overall taste. The french toast was truly the star being so moist and rich. Beware it’s tad heavy so recommended to share.

They provided huge dine-in space with classic French touch in the design. Outdoor patio seats were certainly my pick if I were to dine in, while enjoying the hustle bustle of Culver City!
