I paid $9 for a bowl of tomato flavored salty rice. NEVER AGAIN. I thought I would give myself a treat something nice after having a terrible experience at a hair salon. I saw this place and said, hey, i could get some jollof rice, but what I got instead was not jollof rice in any sense. Disappointed.

Outstanding food and great customer service. The food here is of Sierra Leone, Caribbean, Trinidadian fare. The oxtail and curry goat are my favorite dishes here. The food is always well seasoned, the meat or tender, and most importantly—the flavor is on point. Although a bit pricey, the portions are huge and more than enough for two people. Caution to those that are not fans of spicy food. The food here can go from mild to spicy for some people’s pallet, but for me, it is A+OK! I am a fan, and recommend this place!

This place is absolutely amazing! The food is incredibly delicious. I visited for the first time today and was welcomed with warm, friendly service. Everyone was in great spirits, and the atmosphere felt really positive.
When I mentioned it was my first time, they kindly offered me a sample of curry chicken, brown stew, and oxtail over rice. Each one was full of flavor — so good that I had a hard time choosing!
I ended up ordering the brown stew chicken with rice, cabbage, and a side of plantains. Everything was cooked to perfection. The chicken was juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The plantains were fresh off the stove — perfectly sweet and soft.
I absolutely loved my experience here and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend giving them a try!

it’s just disappointing at this point. Went from great to you never know what to expect. It’s sad you order cassava leaf and you have curry chicken in your meal. This is not the first time. The last time it was jerk chicken. What if people are allergic to curry? or just don’t like curry! Just wrong! I suggest only going to the original one in DC

PLEASE DON’T EAT HERE! The service is bad. The food is suspect. The chicken jerk I ordered was undercooked tough and mostly gristle and bone. They’re overcharging you for food that just doesn’t taste good. For the people who are looking at the reviews and see the 5 star ratings. They are extremely misleading. Please don’t be fooled. Do not spend your money at this establishment.

From the lovely owner to the lovely beautiful manager service and food is good ! Fried chicken is so delicious…. Oxtail with rice ans plantain on of my favorite dishes at sweet kitchen ! Oh and did I mention authentic jerk chicken like back in Jamaica . It’s a must try sweet sweet kitchen is a good Jamaican restaurant. Sweet kitchen also offers some delicious African food like cassava leaf !

I was very disappointed with my most recent experience here. I called the restaurant at 7:12 p.m. to order a plate of oxtail with jollof rice and cabbage and a plate of oxtail with white rice and plantain. I was told it would take an hour for the food to be ready (which I was fine with), and asked for my name and my phone number with which I complied. After waiting an hour, I called the restaurant and was told that it would take another fifteen minutes for the jollof rice to be done. Again, I was fine with having to wait. I decided to begin my twenty minute commute at the time but did find it weird that I was told they would give me a call but never received one and had to call them myself.
Once I arrived to pick up the food, I was seen by a cashier and told them what I ordered, was rung up, and then I paid, but to my surprise, I was informed that there are no sides (i.e., cabbage and plantain) for whichever reason. Keep in mind, I paid for the food in-person, didn’t receive my food until nearly two hours after ordering, but still was not informed of this until after the transaction already went through. I found their actions to be deceitful and irresponsible and would highly caution consumers before deciding to order to keep in mind that they risk terrible service and dissatisfaction. The lack of preparation for not having my exact order that was made two hours in advance and nonchalance I received from the cashier when inquiring about their incompetency was truly distasteful.

All though I love the food here, I had to order Door Dash from another Jamaican spot because Sweet Sweet Kitchen doesn’t have anywhere near their whole menu on Door Dash… $50 lost to another restaurant.. makes no sense.
I literally ordered food from another place and it’s no where near the flavors and quality that I know Sweet Sweet Kitchen to have. Very disappointed! I’m just one person, think of all the $$ your Restaurant could be pulling in if you just keep up with Food Delivery Apps.

The food here is good tasting and it’s very convenient because of how long it stays open but I immideatly got scammed. I paid $30 for oxtail and jollof rice when the posted price was $24. It has potential to be great but they need to be more honest with their customers.
