I have eaten here numerous times and the food is always amazing!! Today was my first time trying the loco moco smash burger and it did not disappoint!! If you’re looking for great food with massive portions, you’ve found the place. Alpha at the counter is always friendly and helpful and Chef Bobby always cooks to perfection!!

I loooooooooved this. After seeing a few videos on Tik Tok and Instagram of people trying the Hot Butter Chicken Katsu sandwich, I knew I wanted to make time to go out to Sanford to try it. I loved it. It was HUGE and full of flavor. The katsu was crunchy and perfect. The mac salad that was on the sandwich was great. Very creamy and tasty. I’m from Orlando and made the trip. I was having a terrible day and decided to treat myself. Alpha (hopefully spelled that correctly) helped me and he was incredibly kind and gave great service. I believe he mentioned chef Johnny cooked my sandwich (I hope I got his name right!) so I wanted to give a mention to him as well. Can’t wait to bring friends to try this place and I also can’t wait to try more of their dishes – they look great. It’s located in a cool food hall with indoor and outdoor seating, though i imagine the seating is probably limited on weekend. Still not a deterrent. All of this to say, I had a great experience and am stoked to come back again.

I absolute love this place. While most other vendors at Henry’s Depot have “good” food, Island Grindz makes a memorable meal. I have to travel every so often and if I am in north Orlando or Sanford I will always stop here. I will pass up any recommendations if it means I don’t get a hot butter chicken katsu sandwich. Side of fries is a heaping portion. Hands down and thumbs up to Island Grindz. Consistently worth it.

Oh, what a fantastic find! We absolutely loved our visit to this place. The katsu chicken is, without a doubt, the best we’ve ever had—it was perfectly soft and juicy on the inside, with a satisfyingly crispy coating on the outside. A true masterpiece!
Even though I’m not usually a fan of macaroni, the Mac salad here completely won me over. It’s incredibly creamy and perfectly seasoned, with a delightful crunch from the carrots. You can genuinely taste the top-notch quality of every single ingredient. This spot is a definite must-visit, and we’ll be coming back many, many times!

Alpha and Jackie hooked us up with the Huli Huli chicken platter! Split with my husband so he added a ton of extra chicken then came by table to make sure we had enough. Excellent food and service!

Went here for the second time today because I wanted to give them a second chance before writing a negative review. The first time I was talked into having their tiktok famous giant chicken sandwich, which was overcooked and under seasoned. Today I went for their plate lunch and tried both their teriyaki short rib and spicy chicken katsu. The short rib was cooked improperly, with the actual meat being tough and the connective tissue and fat not allowed to render so it was chewy and inedible. The spicy katsu was decent, as was the Mac salad. The wait time was long and we watched people that had come after us get their food first.
I had seen my order be placed under the hot lamps, but the counter guy let it sit there for some time before he saw me staring at it and finally grabbed it. When we mentioned we still needed our drinks, he snapped about how he “lets them stay cold while grabbing our hot food”. Subpar food and rude service? We won’t be back again.

ALL I CAN SAY IS I WANT THIS CHICKEN SANDWICH THREE TIMES A DAY! Large portion. Great piece of chicken with the right amount of breading and flavoring. Heat was there but not overpowering! Everything was phenomenal and I am so happy I found this place!!! I will most definitely be back and if I could give more stars I would!!
