I had this modern Thai-Lao joint saved for quite a while. While I intended to dine at Loro this evening, I made a detour instead for Sweet Rice. It was a good decision. (Don’t worry, Loro, I still love you!)
Tucked into a small cozy spot on Davis, Sweet Rice specializes in a variety of South Asian stir-fried rice and noodles dishes as well as curries and bbq’ed meats. I ordered the Khao Moo Dang – Moo Grab, a rice bowl with crispy pork belly and char siu pork. It came with a boiled egg, a sweet red sauce, and a spicy sesame sauce. It was delicious, especially the crispy pork belly.
I plan to return for a curry and some starters. Nice work, everyone!

Came in on a snowy day, ordered Laab chicken, tom yum, and Tom kha. Laab was ok, missing rice. Maybe this place doesn’t serve it with rice, but we are used to having it served with rice, asking with the cabbage and meat. Tom Yum was good but didn’t come with rice or noodles. Again, maybe this place doesn’t serve it that way. Tom kha was good, sweet and spicy, make sure you like it sweet. I do.

This was our first time to Sweet Rice in Bishop Arts. The food came out fresh and tasted delicious. We shared the Crispy Pork Ribs as an appetizer. They also gave us complimentary fried chicken skins which were also great. For our entrees, we ordered the Pad Thai and the Pad Se Eew. The customer service was amazing, everyone was so kind. We will definitely come back.

A little bit of Laos and Thai home style meals at this friendly fast casual restaurant. Every dish is a flavor bomb of goodness. Dallas maybe known for Javier’s, Terry Black, and Nick & Sam’s … but Sweet Rice Street Eats is a little hidden secret the late Anthony Bourdain would rave about

Service was top notch and our food was amazing. I had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and shrimp. She got the pad thai with tofu. I got the level 2 spicy and it was great, don’t know that I would go higher though. I can’t wait to come back and try something else. Appreciated the little touches like the recycling and lemon water.

I was excited to find out that Sweet Rice was opening in the area. I usually have to venture out a bit to find some good Thai food & I’m happy to say that that is no longer the case. Atmosphere & employees were great. Definitely will be coming back.

I am obsessed with this spot. I came in today for the first time. I’m not sure how long they’ve been here but I know it’s been a super long time. We don’t have a lot of Thai food in this part of Dallas and I’m so glad they’re here. we must protect them at all costs.
First of all you walk in it’s very clean. It’s extremely cute. You can tell it’s very eco- friendly. All of the packaging is compostable, which I love. The people working there are so sweet so friendly, so helpful. They even have a little back patio area with barstools you can sit at when the weather is nice. They have a huge menu of all sorts of Thai and Lao food, including standard fair, appetizers, and street food. They also have Boba and a few desserts.
Heres what we ordered- Thai style papaya salad, steamed potstickers, crying tiger and khao moo dang. Also ordered a Thai lemon tea boba with crystal bobas. Sadly they don’t have popping boba but nice that they even have boba! I forgot to ask for it less sweet so it was quite on the sweet side but nothing adding in some water couldn’t easily fix.
They were so sweet and brought us out some crispy chicken skin chips on the house. They said that they thought we were Thai based on our order and then asked if we’d ever been to Thailand. I’m sure they were just being nice, but it was incredibly kind and thoughtful and totally made my day
So glad for more Thai/asian places on this side of town because the options are very limited. I cannot wait to come back and try everything on the menu. All the food was 10/10. Loved it all. Everything about the restaurant is adorable as well. They even have a front door ramp that makes it wheelchair and stroller accessible! You have to try this place out- you won’t be disappointed!

We were so excited to eat here after walking around the Bishops Art District on Sunday. Most of the reviews looked good, but unfortunately we did not have a great experience. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken. Both the potatoes and the carrots were undercooked. The potatoes literally had cold/raw spots inside. It was very unappetizing and I couldn’t eat much of it. The curry had a good flavor. My husband had the Pad Kee Mow with combo meat. His portion was so tiny. We were shocked at the price to portion ratio on his. Our total bill with tip was about $40 and we just drank water. The cashier was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. I don’t know if we just came on an off day but we left feeling very disappointed.

Not sure how they get away with selling summer rolls as pre-packaged salad mix wrapped in rice paper with no noodles. Apparently they don’t even have these type of noodles, so they probably shouldn’t even have summer rolls on the menu.

Great spot- the Tom Kha soup was good- a bit different from how it normally tastes- but was fresh and tasted good. My son loved the potstickers and my husband loved the duck fat fried rice.
