Wow, what a fine jewel. The limited menu picked our curiosity and we ended up having a wonderful dining experience. We tried and shared different excellent prepared dishes. Enjoyed them all. Each dish had a unique flavor combination, well presented and prepared. Althought we tried several dishes, we ended up with no left overs… Do I have to say more..
The service was excellent and we did not hear the noises complained in other reviews. Maybe it was because we were enjoying the experience. We will return with others.

Stumbled across this restaurant as I searched on open table for a reservation since we are visiting the area for business. Not only did the name catch my eye for obvious reasons, but it was the reviews that caught our attention. Food and service 10/10. Melissa the owner came by to greet us as we joked about our name similarities. If I lived here, I would definitely be a regular. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for a lovely date night, their happy hour and of course the amazing cuisine! Thank you Melissa! – Melissa Sweet 🙂

We returned tonight to Sweet Melissa’s for a delicious dinner. We always order the fish stew which is exceptional. It is loaded with seafood and fish and a hearty flavorful sauce. Their grilled romaine lettuce and Caesar dressing is excellent. We miss Sweet Melisssa on Sanibel but are so glad they are on Fort Myers. We would highly recommend Sweet Melissa’s for anyone looking for a lovely evening out.

We went to Sweet Melissa’s yesterday for an early Valentine’s Day dinner, a tradition where we try a new restaurant each year. I chose this spot specifically because of its high Google rating, so expectations were genuinely high, unfortunately, the experience fell flat.
When we arrived, everyone was being seated on the right side of the dining room. Our two-top table was extremely small, too small to comfortably hold drinks, extra plates, and utensils at the same time. There was no space for my purse or phone, and certainly no room for something as simple as holding hands. We were wedged between another tight two-top and a party of four, which made the setting feel cramped and impersonal rather than romantic.
The service was okay, but that’s as far as I can go. Our server did not attempt to build rapport or do anything to elevate what should have been a special evening. On a holiday-adjacent night, a little warmth or attentiveness could have gone a long way.
The appetizer was good, but the main courses were disappointing. My entrée was forgettable, and my husband struggled to get through his swordfish. The menu itself felt very limited and lacked color and creativity. I understand that not every dish can be a “wow,” but when the food doesn’t shine, service and atmosphere should help carry the experience, and they didn’t.
Dining is an emotional experience. It can spark joy, nostalgia, curiosity, or connection. Sadly, this meal was heartbreakingly boring. For a restaurant with such strong reviews, we expected much more.

From the moment we were seated, Kathy our waitress had an attitude. Not sure if they were overwhelmed since it was Valentine’s Day but she had the two tables beside us (4 people at each & only 2 of us)and seemed to do fine waiting on them but ignored us except for the basics. Never refilled the water! Once we asked the server for black pepper, he also ignored us. We ask for a vegan choice ahead of time which I’m not sure if that upset them. It was never a problem in Sanibel. Terrible guest service. Food was just ok. Better to spend your hard earned money somewhere where you are appreciated.

This place was incredible. Best fish dish I’ve ever had! I ordered the Redfish. You won’t regret it! They make a mean Espresso martini as well.

The food sounded amazing, but wasn’t that great. The Cornbread was so incredibly dry we couldn’t finish it, even with butter. The swordfish was tough, actually needed a knife, and WAY too salty-had to cut the seasoning off in order to eat it. Redfish was ok.

Had high hopes for this place but was greatly disappointed. Waited over an hour for our food and it was above average at best. Ordered the redfish and it was good but the ravioli was bland and dry, tasted like it had been sitting out (which it probably was). Cornbread was dry and inedible without the butter. Staff kept apologizing for food saying it would be out soon but made no effort to make it up to us. It wasn’t very busy so there was no excuse for the long wait. This place definitely does not deserve all the 5 stars it has, or at least in our experience it was a 1 star evening.

We had an absolutely terrific experience on a Sunday night. My wife and I took my sister and her husband and my wife’s brother and his wife (all visiting from California) out to dinner at Sweet Melissa’s. We were treated like family and the meal was the best meal we have ever had in a restaurant. We had the best time!!!
Melissa and her staff are unique professionals in the competative culinary world.
Do not miss the opportunity to dine here.

Sweet Melissa’s is by far my favorite restaurant. I have been going since the restaurant opened on sanibel island and the food, atmosphere, and experience has always blown my expectations. The new space is even better and the food is just as delicious. I would highly recommend everyone go here it’s a staple!
