A friend told my mom and I about this place Saturday so we went to try them out and we’re very happy we did. What a bang for your buck!! The food was amazing and they cook it right after you place your order fresh! Very cordial staff and clean restaurant. We took ours home, as there is limited seating, but others had come to do the same so they (like us) could throw down on this fantastic southern cooking!!! We both got the fish and shrimp entree with two sides and cornbread. We’ll be back, for sure!

Food is fresh and hot!! Chef and staff cook food to order. Clean and sanitized as they cooked. Greeting and Acknowledged Guest with smiles and answered questions we had. We’re kind of particular eaters!! Hubby is an chef!! Left full and a little sleepy!! This made our Sunday Special!! Thank you!!

Walking in, the nice lady at the front warmly greets you. You can smell the home cooking as it’s an open kitchen. People cooking your food are happy and you truly taste the happiness in the food!! The aroma is just wonderful and mesmerizing.

My husband and I ordered the oxtails with Mac and Mashed potatoes and the sides were good as usual but the oxtails were not good at all. The meat was not tender with a thick piece of fat around it and the meat was very chewy . We’re so disappointed because we never had an experience like this before. I only ended up eating one of my oxtails out of the four and trashing the rest and my husband only ate 2 of his. Definitely was a let down and waste of money…..but the staff is always nice and pleasant. Good people

Many blessings to the Sweet Mama and the fam! I rolled in this evening and ordered the baked chicken wings, lima beans and Mac n cheese. LeMMee tell youu! The flavor on those beans! Was lip smacking good, perfectly cooked and seasoned, as was everything else. The chicken was so tender it was just melting off the bones, even the bones had flavor! And I’m super skeptical about peoples baked Mac n cheese bc my Aunty is one of the best to ever do it, but Sweet Mama must’ve gotten the same recipe passed down bc it was slamming and jamming. I might have taken all but ten minutes to eat all of these healthy portions i was provided. I came in starving and left fuller than a muh. I want a slice a cake but that’s probably O.D. I might have ta do it though! Ijs! Oo and the honey biscuits, gwud lawwd! The staff was family on sight, you know the vibes. The pineapple juice was straight ! I digress.

I had been looking forward to trying this place. Since Bistro was closed today. I gave them a try. They were out of every veggies except green beans, so I got them. I ordered mac n cheese, smothered pork chops over yellow rice and green beans. Green beans were seasoned well and tasty. That’s were it ends. The Mac and cheese is stiff/dry and oily. The pork chop was thick and tough with what tasted like cheap package gravy, the yellow rice, was well yellow rice. The cornbread tasted like Jiffy mix. Overall all the food was underwhelming. In the future if Bistro’s is closed on a Monday, I’ll wait until Tuesday. My meal was 15.04 w/tax. Wish I could have said money well spent, this meal was more like better than nothing.

Three words, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I know we are in Jacksonville and the service industry is dead here, but enough is enough. Each time I come so many items aren’t available, which is fine, but it helps if the person taking the order is kind about it. To get a meal with no rice, no bread, none of the items you normally love, and to still receive poor service is blasphemous. I ended up canceling part of my order due to the lady at the register’s attitude and nice/nasty tone. The most disheartening part is that I send so many of my own clients to this restaurant and will now have to express to them this experience. As a successful business owner of 15 years myself, I am a huge believer in if you take care of your customers they will take care of you. I will spread the word of the nasty attitudes and how unappreciative this place is of loyal customers. No need to post the receipts from my visits but my average order is $50 and I’ve even been supportive of the sea moss vendor there. So it’s just an unfortunate situation that I pray they learn from.

Kind and courteous people working, that’s a big plus. Have to thumbs down the oxtails but mac was decent, canned yams were decent as well. Greens must be good because for the past 2 weeks they were sold out. The place was clean and well kept. I dined in and enjoyed the experience. One of the ladies was not only kind but she wore a smile…which I have not seen anywhere in this lovely city.

Great place to eat and the staff is very friendly. Prices are just right and they don’t skimp on the food. Only reason for a 4 star is because the lemon pepper chicken I order was a bit too salty. I did talk to “Sweet Ma’am” herself. She said she’ll make sure that’s fix. I will definitely be back very, very soon.

Late review, but last year we had Sweet Mama’s do a catering for us of 75 or so plates. We picked up. The friendly service was amazing, and the food tasted fantastic! We had the fried chicken with rice and collard greens and the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and cornbread. Everything was very tasty even after transporting the food for 20 minutes and setting up.
