Usually when someone tell you that their product is good. You kind of have to hesitate for a while. But they told me that this brownie was good. It was good. What made it stand out? Was the appearance? The taste and the right amount of flavoring awesome.

I’ve ordered two specialty birthday cakes from them already, and I am thoroughly impressed. The design that I asked for is a spitting image of what I got and the flavors of the cakes are so good. The first one I ordered was the cookies and cream the second one that I ordered was strawberry flavored and I absolutely love the strawberry flavor 10 out of 10.

I wish I could rate them higher. They opened a couple years ago and were wonderful! Kind people, always with a smile, and cozy place. I ordered a cake for my husband’s birthday and it was very good, but a basic Napoleon cake. Not sure what’s happening or why but seems like they make sweets ahead of time now and freeze everything. You can taste its been in the freezer – in everything! And so crumbly. Noticed last year (maybe longer truthfully) tried again a couple months ago and then just recently – unfortunately that will be the last. I hope they realize how many customers they’re loosing by doing this. Please just make it fresh, everything was wonderful when you first opened!
And clean your freezer. Once you have that freezer burn smell, it leeches on to everything.

If you need sweets for any special occasion, you will not be disappointed here! I just got married and before I knew anything like venue, food, guest list, I knew I wanted my cake from Sweet Brown Suga! We had a 10 year anniversary party with a surprise twist, we got married! With 3 weeks until our wedding, I went to them and asked if they could make my wedding cake dreams come true and THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! I got a beautiful black and rose gold 2 tier cake and 48 cupcakes. They were such a big hit I didn’t even get to snag a cupcake before they were all gone but best believe I got my cake to save!!!
Thank you to the fantastic team here for making my day so special, for helping me bring my vision to life and for always having such amazing customer service from the time we walk in til we walk out! Forever one of my favorite bakeries!!

Delicious assortment of sweet and savory treats! My girls and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried and will definitely be back to try more in the very near future. The kitchen sink was my personal favorite of them all, but there was nothing my lips touched that they did not like!

I came after a friend was telling me about it. She hasn’t eaten Sugar in over a year so I will assume a lot must have changed since she was last there. I ordered $50 worth of mixed box brownies, bars and wedding cookies. They were all hard, like they were stale and everything had the same first initial taste that strongly resembled some form of chemical. I took one bite of each and threw mine away. My husband took one bite and asked me if they were burning incense in the storefront. I will absolutely not be back. I got wedding cookies, red velvet bar, banana pudding bar, cheesecake brownie and peanut butter explosion. All same chemical taste on outside.

My friend suggested this place after getting our nails done next door. The atmosphere: cute decor, but it could use some cleaning on the table covers. The fake cakes on the wall are outdated and could use some updates.
Food: i was confused if this is a bakery or a breakfast/ brunch spot. The menu seems busy for no reason and lacked focus. When you have your hands involved in too many things in a restaurant you end up with basic or mediocre food, so a focus should definitely be figured out. If you’re going to offer food, offering a “few” gluten free and vegan options in let’s say sandwiches or soups is a great option for those who have unique health restrictions.
The owner told me she can’t make a gluten free soup because soup has to be thickened with “flour” . This is 2026 and there are tons of ways to thicken soups and other foods that doesn’t include using wheat flour. As a business owner who is serving the community its your job to research and offer a few items to those with dietary restrictions. I could on about this topic but won’t because i actually consult for small businesses such as hers and help them become better aligned to provide products that the community actually wants. I’ve worked in commercial real estate for 15+ years.
Service: the guy at the counter needs more training, i asked him what items they sold were gluten free and he seemed to not be able to provide an answer and he had an attitude I suppose without helping. In the end i decided to order chicken “salad” but instead i got a scoop of chicken salad by itself because the guy didn’t bother to ask or clarify what they had. What i wanted was chicken “salad” on a bed of salad, it was lunch time so I’m confused why I’d just want a scoop with nothing else. He didn’t ask and my friend went and ordered salad for me so i could have a complete meal for lunch.
Coffee: was tangy bitter and Luke warm. This means the beans are old or the coffee pot needs to be cleaned bc beans shouldn’t be tangy. It was the worst cup of coffee I’ve ever had! I had them give me some vanilla syrup and that didn’t make it taste any better. Like i said earlier, focus on what you want to offer and your area of speciality. You can’t do everything well. They could have done way better just offering the instant coffee that’s higher quality and consistency, but they choose violence and mediocre in the coffee and people don’t play with their coffee!
Overall i gave this place 1 star but would give zero if i could because it was a complete waste of my money! Time and money is important nowadays. Don’t waste people time or money and provide quality products that’s consistent.
I ended up getting coffee down the street at Buttery Nut cafe in the Grayson rail yard because they know their lane, it’s well defined and quality and consistent all the time! The menu is focused and they’ve actually invested money into a state of the art coffee machine and high quality beans, creamer and baked goods making sure each visit the customer is satisfied. Sweet Brown Suga needs to refocus and figure out their lane.

The sweets are great and the customer service is also great. But I paid $10 for a cheesecake brownie that was not packed up in my order. I was not able to get through on the phone, but I emailed. The owner sent me a response but I had overlooked it and so she called me back and helped resolve the issue. They wrote my name down so I can come get a replacement. My husband and I devoured the treats very quickly I am happy to have a local bakery that is actually really good and not a chain or grocery store.

Service was amazing all the staff I encountered were very nice and helpful wanting to help me with my vision. The cake itself was absolutely beautiful and exactly what I asked for. The cake was good great flavor not dry and pretty moist. The buttercream was just ok and I was very disappointed with the layers on the cake not very consistent at all. I got a small cake and I payed around $103.00 which is not an issue if the cake would’ve been a little better in consistency. This being said I don’t feel like it was a horrible price, but i probably wouldn’t get it again.
