Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine has been in established since May of 2005. Our family moved from Pattaya Beach, Thailand to America in 1995 and landed in the Upstate of South Carolina in 1997. With dad’s love of cooking Thai food at home, mom’s decorative skills, and son’s experience in the service industry, Sweet Basil Thai cuisine was born in Greenville, South Carolina in 2005. We started the restaurant with a small 1200 square-feet space in the corner of Pelham Rd. and Highway 14 shopping center. In 2008, we have expanded into 2200 square feet with a renovation of a bar and beautiful Thai decorations. With the love of the restaurant business and our daily effort to perfect our culinary skills, we have become well known in the Greenville area.

I ordered Red Curry(per my usual) and I ordered it Thai hot. (Translates to HOT) Many places locally use dry pepper to spice things up but they used real Thai chili.(Huge plus for me).
It was good. I’m honestly not sure I looked up from start to finish. 10 out of 10.
I ordered the spring rolls to start of with, but $7 for two rolls were kind of pricey. They were good, but not sure if I’d order them again.
After the spring rolls came my chicken pad Thai. I ordered it hot because I love spicy food. It tasted great but next time I might order it a little more mild. Just for my preference I would have preferred just a little milder. No fault on them of course. Hopefully the next level down of spice still has some kick.
The staff was very pleasant and kept my drink refreshed without asking. It was really good food in a nice atmosphere and will return again.
Food: We got the spring rolls as an appetizer and although a little heavy on black pepper, the sweet chili sauce made it better. I got the tofu red curry (medium) and it was delicious. The Thai tea is tasty and helped dowse the heat. My lady got the tofu pineapple fried rice and loved it as well.
Service: Our waitress was very attentive and prompt. Cups always filled and another server when offering to go boxes, asked if I wanted more rice for the curry. She read my mind!
Atmosphere: The restaurant was quiet and had sports playing. We met a lovely couple next to us and conversed with them after dinner.
We look forward to coming again!
The food is delicious though so if you don’t have any restrictions, eat up.
Thanks to Chen and Martina!
We will definitely be back and we highly recommend this place.
atmosphere relaxed and comfortable.
Last night was the first time I went in several months and I noticed that they have made some changes to their wait staff and small upgrades throughout the restaurant – which was nice to see. They also have some great beers on tap!
