I want to open with the person at the front was super friendly and nice, even called to let me know they were out of something I ordered online. The inside looked clean and had some tables to sit at. Sadly the food wasn’t great. I got the General Tso’s Dinner Combo, which was a huge amount of food and came with a side of 2 crab rangoons. The crab rangoons were good, more on the sweet side. The rice had big onion chunks, but was okay. The chicken was just, meh. I will say the egg drop soup was good!

This place is seriously amazing! The food is so flavorful and perfectly balanced – sweet, savory, and spicy all at once. The portions are huge, and the prices are unbelievably reasonable. The staff is super friendly and always smiling. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re looking for some delicious Asian cuisine.

My husband and I have gone to sweet Asia for years with no complaints! Since new owners the quality of the food has gone down. In the past the steak in pepper steak was very good however we ordered pepper steak on 10/26/25 and the quality of the steak was so bad we couldn’t eat it
We threw it in the garbage. I don’t usually write reviews or complain but I felt this food was not edible my husband felt the same way !!!!

Tom and Ella, the owners american names have had this quaint establishment for 7 years and boast a loyal following. I understand why. I had the pepper steak and sesame chicken. Both were piping hot and delicious. Just the right amount of seasoning/heat. I dine and photograph at a lot of asian restaurants throughout the metro Detroit area and there are so many. However I always look for the following:
freshness, temperature, presentation and layers of flavor. I am glad that Sweet Asia Cafe delivers all of that! Also the service is great too!

Come on Sweet Asia.i been coming here for years. My last two orders the rice has been so flavorless and dry. I ordered beef fried rice and it was plain rice. No carrots, peas, and definitely no beef. Lo mein noodles are dry and without flavor, chicken is just branched in sauce. Also what happened to the crab ragoons?!! They don’t taste the same anymore!!! Not even close! I had to throw away the ones I got today, they taste like glue. What’s going on yall? Get it together. Respectfully.

Total waste of money and time, the food came out to 53.29, and I waited for over an hour and a half! When I called the girl did not greet me right, she just picked up and said hello. The shrim w broccoli and pork fried rice had only 5 pieces of shrimp, barley any sauce was on the food, and the fried rice which is the worst part of that meal I got, the pork don’t even look like pork! Moving on to the beef w mixed veggies and house lo mein, the lo mein was literally dry and very thin almost like fried ramen, that’s not lo mein is supposed to be! Sushi was a mess too! The soup not hot or sour at all! And the wings were wing dings and over cooked! This is my worst experience of Chinese restaurants! My camera made it look better than it really is, but this is really not! I am not gonna eat any of this, total waste of money and time! Over 10 dollars for those meal is a rip off!

Not bad sushi for a place that does mostly Chinese along with different noodle dishes. On my way home Twice a week, I had to try. Got a pint of shrimp lomein to eat tomorrow, but had to taste it tonight since there was enough for 2.5 meals for me. Only 5 pieces of sushi, but larger size pieces. Got my normal shrimp tempura without cucumber. Also had krab in it. Star taken off for no fountain pop. Will be back again.

I’ve been ordering from Sweet Asia Café regularly for a couple years and always considered it one of my go-to spots in Southfield. The food used to be consistently fresh, flavorful, and high quality – something I genuinely looked forward to. Unfortunately, the last couple of times I ordered, the experience was completely different. The food tasted overcooked, a bit stale, and the portions felt smaller than usual.
Out of curiosity, I checked the reviews and saw that the restaurant is now under new management. That would explain the sudden shift. I truly wish things hadn’t changed – it’s disappointing to see a place I once loved lose the spark that made it special. Sadly, I won’t be ordering again.
