first experience at this burger bar. it was a Sunday and they have a special chicken deal which is clearly very popular. They were swamped. I’d heard a lot about their olive burger and my wife was excited about that peanut butter and jelly burger. we ordered and waited and waited and waited. They were very kind. We knew we were going to have to wait. We were excited, when the food finally arrived, my daughters and wife’s burgers were totally acceptable and they loved the flavor. Even though mine looked fantastic, it was unfortunately well done, and I was looking for a medium rare. She quickly received it back from me, but the minutes added up and we couldn’t wait any more when the head server found out that I hadn’t received my hamburger back yet she went above and beyond to resolve the issue and left us feeling that we would come back to this establishment because they take pride in their work. The buns were some of the best there is. I’m excited to try that olive burger eventually 🙂 .

Found this place while driving around for a place for breakfast waiting for Uncle John’s to open for the craft show. Pretty basic breakfast menu but it was sure delicious. Would like to come back to check out their lunch/dinner menu. Service was great!

Nothing fancy. Our other choices were packed so we ended up here & we lucked out finding an empty dirty table to sit at. We sat there 15 minutes b4 a waitress cleaned it off for us & took our order. There was a antique car show going on & the Mint Festival so the crowd downtown was heavier than usual. Waitress told us kitchen was running about 40 min behind so we passed on getting a burger & settled on just an appetizer with our PBR. And what a mistake that turned out to be. I should’ve taken a photo but didn’t for some reason but the $9 half order of loaded chips-n-cheese we ordered were the absolute worst I’ve ever received anywhere. They SUCKED!. Hardly any cheese whatsoever, cold, tasteless, stale chips smothered in lettuce. Couldn’t even finish them they were that bad. Glad we didn’t order the full $14 order. Waitress Caitlyn agreed & comped us the order & told us when she complained to the cook he walked out the door. She was a good server & should be working elsewhere than this place. Menu is way overpriced IMO anyways & much better off going to Ryan’s Roadhouse here in St Johns if you can get a seat there. We won’t be back here, not impressed at all I can tell ya that much.

Oh my gosh, you have to stop at Swaney’s if you are in the St. John’s area! Everything we had was amazing! We started with breaded . No sitting in day old fryer oil here! The breading encasing those hot mushrooms were some of the best my husband & I have had. I’ve never had an olive or buffalo tots so thought I’d try it. I’m an olive fan…flavor in the olive topping was sooooo good on top of a juicy burger! The tots had a little zing to them which I ❤️‘ed. My husband had the Bosco with beer battered . , pepperjack cheese…he was in heaven! Again, the fries were fresh and not greasy, but the way you wish every restaurant knew how to make them. We polished off our lunch with dessert (we couldn’t stop now!) I had the chocolate mint cake and my husband had their famous peanut butter cake…uh we should’ve taken a cake ! This is your grandma’s recipe (really is Mrs. Swaney’s recipe!) with real butter, cream, etc…no skimpy thin, hardly iced cake here…the dense consistency of the cakes made me only wish I had ordered a cup of ☕️! Let alone the fabulous food, it was so fun to watch the fun interactions of the local people with the servers. Since this is a locally owned pub/restaurant you could tell how much people enjoyed visiting with each other, someone was throwing a party in the back room (the people just kept coming in!), etc. I want to thank Kacie (Swaney) for her hospitality as our server, but more importantly the way she and her sister (and niece) are continuing the family business in such a great town! We’ll be back next time visiting family!

Clean, peaceful atmosphere. Burgers are definitely a bang for your buck and they have great appetizers. Bathrooms are nice too!

We went for a late dinner. Restaurant was full but not crowded. The lighting was just right, many offerings on the menu. I ordered the tater tots that had cheese & bacon since I wasn’t terribly hungry. The tots were crispy and delicious, the bacon was cooked crispy. They had liquid cheese that was OK, but I’m not a big fan of the liquid cheese.

Very disappointed rannout of onion rings but burger was Amazing (maybe a smidgen less mustard, will ask for on side next time). Beer battered fries were fantastic. Guy running show (not sure if he was Zoey, Joey ?). All and out fantastic! Highly recommend

I ordered half an order of nachos…was very impressed with fresh fried tortilla chips, so cheesy! Great with the crisp lettuce topper and added sour cream and salsa. All of this for less than $8! Great value! Burgers at this place are great! Wouldn’t hesitate getting either. They also serve broasted chicken. If you haven’t had it, you really should try it!
