Excellent first visit to Swamp water. We’ve been wanting to try it for so long and can’t believe we didn’t go sooner! The crispy pork belly appetizer is a must try! Everything was so hot and fresh and tasted amazing. Our server was outstanding and I wish I could remember her name now, she really knows how to balance taking great care of all of her guests at the same time. She was on top of refills, checking on us, even from afar and making sure everything was perfect.

We went to Swampwater early evening on a Friday night. We were able to get seated right away and had no issues getting a table. Jesse was our server and she was very good! I especially wanted to eat here because of the charbroiled oysters and their drink selection looked very good. I ended up getting the Swampwater cocktail which came in a large mason jar and was very strong, which was great. We came during happy hour which I believe is from 3 to 6 PM on Friday nights. The four charbroiled oysters were nine dollars and my husband had the jalapeño poppers which were the same price. I then had the fried shrimp with a Caesar salad and the baked beans. The baked beans were phenomenal as well as the oysters. My husband had the jambalaya and as it wasn’t his taste, it’s still was a really good Cajun meal. Would highly recommend and would go back!

Swampwater Grill is a fantastic place to Eat.
The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and inviting.
Best known for their Cajun style seafood, they have the best pork chop I’ve had in my 20 plus years in Cincinnati hands down.
Let’s start with the ambience the lighting is perfect not too dark not too bright, you can see everything and everyone including the menu.
It’s nicely laid out to provide plenty of space for patrons whether at a booth, table, or at the bar.
I’ve been a couple of times before and kept forgetting to take pictures so here is a combined review from the last 4 times I went.

Appetizers for me will always be their alligator tail with fries jalapenos, of the 4 times I’ve had them one time they were slightly under cooked toy liking but still fully cooked. The alligator is nicely flavored and the meat nice and tender. I love their alligator tail.
The grilled oysters are really really good especially if you asked for the specialty hot sauce behind the counter, damned good. Oysters were nicely cleaned and prepared, grilled in this case. Very yummy

I got Fried Catfish the first time. It was fully cooked but the breading was pale and slightly soggy, but but the fish and the breading had good flavor, they offered to refire an order but wasn’t necessary but would have been better slightly more fried.
Pork chops, I’m not a seafood fan so wanted to try something different. I’m so glad I did super tender thick cut pork chopped properly cooked with blackened seasoning, super juicy and flavorful, 3 out of the 4 times I had it. The one time that was this last time it wasn’t quite as juicy and was slightly over cooked but unlike the rest of Cincinnati pork chops it was still good just not as good as their usual ones.
Cheesey Corn grits for sides is damned good most of the time. Occasionally you have to add salt. Creamy, savory, buttery, cheesiness is a must.
My wife got the Swamp Platter with catfish and absolutely enjoyed it the sauce was quite flavorful, but not a fan of the over cooked modeled for the Mac and cheese though.
Crawfish Ettouffe was mild tasting but quite good, my daughter enjoyed that a lot.

Dessert: they have to die for bread pudding which if you like a glaze on yours they have a fantastic sauce for it, highly recommend.
They also had cobbler and a chocolate cake as other options also the serving sizes are tremendous especially for the $10 they charge for the dessert.

This restaurant was highly rated on Google and now we know why. The char grilled oysters were simply amazing. We have had oysters along the Gulf and East Coast and these were the best char grilled versions we’ve had. Bryan was our server/bartender and we couldn’t have been happier with him. He was informative, personable, and had a great attitude. The bartender that came in later to help out was also top notch. They worked together like bread and butter, great teammates. I felt a slight buzz from one swampwater drink haha and I got to keep the glass. Do not be skeptical due to the outside vibe and location. We too thought because the building was attached to an antique mall and the surrounding area looked tired that this wasn’t the place for us. Looks are deceiving and this place reminds you of that. If you’re looking for just a drink or a dinner for four don’t hesitate to stop. Thank you for everything Bryan and staff.

Bringing a bit of Cajun to the North, Swampwater is a place to think about. The Gator bites were spot on and the hushpuppies crisp on the outside and perfect on the inside. 3 of us ordered the Catfish with various sides, the 1/2 slab of ribs and 2 of the Swamp Pasta. 2 of the catfish were good, but the 3rd one was undercooked. We let the waitress know but by the time they brought us out another piece of catfish everyone else was done eating. The ribs were a bit dry and the pasta was barely lukewarm. The atmosphere was really cool and it was attached to an antique mall with lots of really sweet old items. Definitely recommend giving it a try, but get there early and put your name on the wait list and then walk around the antique mall while you wait as it’s not a large place. Can’t give 1/2 stars or I would rate it more of a 3 1/2.

While ordering, the waiter tells us that they have everything on the menu, so I order ribs. He comes back 5 minutes later to tell me there are no ribs. I assume this happens quite often due to the fact that he told me. He recommended the pork chop, which I got. It was ok, he said it was the best thing on the menu. My wife loved her food, the po-boy, appetizer was great too. It was good, not great..

We come here once or twice a month and it’s about a two hour drive from Indiana. I usually get the ribs which is a great value for the price. I hardly ever order ribs out but they are perfectly smoked and you can’t beat them. Wife gets the cheese sticks which are unique and very tasty. But their whole menu is vast and so fas everything has been great.

I don’t think that there is any better place to go on FAT Tuesday than The Swampwater Grill on Kellogg! Let’s start with the lovely hostesses. Rachel was so friendly and just a sweet person. The bartender D ( don’t call her Darla), was awesome. super nice and amazingly efficient. We got the best server Alex! I was never without a drink and the food was totally on point. A lot of shared the a ton of food. We started with the gator bites. The meat was tender and outside crispy. I can’t tell you how amazing the char grilled oysters were. Chris the owner said they were like crack. He isn’t lying!!!! The pork chop was amazing and cooked to perfection. Great staff and amazing food! What more could one ask for!

This place is by far one of the best! Servers are attentive and the food is amazing! I had the blackened catfish with crawfish Étouffée, cheesy corn grits, collard greens, and red beans n rice!! Everything was hot, seasoned, and very well put together! Our wait was over an hour but it was worth every minute! The dessert we had was the bread pudding with rum sauce and they did not disappoint! Portions were exceptional and the drinks are a must! For an appetizer I strongly say go for the gator bites.. you can thank me later lol!
