Perfect que! I got a sampler. Ribs, brisket, sausage, pulled pork. It was too much food for lunch. I had leftovers for another lunch about three days later.
Flavor profile is nice and smokey. The dry rub is just right, not over powering. Ribs were fall off the bone tender but not dry. The brisket was very good, I am picky about brisket and typically do not order it at most bbq joints unless I am in Texas. Swamp brisket was smokey, flavorful, not dried out, and tender.
Their sauce was just ok. But honestly the food did not need it.
The place was clean! The place was packed. The service was friendly.
1 small additional positive, the to go tray is the best I have ever been given at a restaurant. It is heavy duty with no flex and can hold and carry the food well. Most places use the cheapest, flimsiest, styrofoam junk. Not here. It makes a difference.

I was working nearby and told by locals to check this place out. Absolutely amazing brisket and ribs. Literally everything I had was good. Potato salad, baked beans, pulled pork, ribs and brisket. All 10/10. They also have a really great sweet BBQ sauce. I can confidently say this is the best BBQ I’ve had, easily better than several popular spots in Memphis. I likely won’t be in the area again anytime soon, but am glad I stopped by. It’s 3hr from where I live, and I might have to make a day trip sometime just for the food.

We are experienced bbq eaters. We have been to the best and most expensive places throughout Texas and Kansas City. We were traveling and decided to see what Mississippi BBQ was about, and I was shocked at how amazing this little place out in the middle of nowhere was. Easily the best brisket my husband has had, and the pulled pork and pulled chicken was outstanding! If you ever find yourself out in the Laurel area, this is worth visiting!

it might not be the fanciest place but their food is very good, the ribs were tender, not dry. seasoned well with a slight chili taste. their tots were nice and crunchy on the outside while soft inside and a nice layer of salt without being too much. now their brisket sandwich was on point! it was so tender. I love the way they did sliced and chopped on it. smoked well very 100% will get it again!

I stopped into The Swamp Shack and it was absolutely fantastic! The brisket was tender, smoky, and packed with flavor—definitely some of the best I’ve had. The Cajun dusted fries had just the right amount of kick, perfectly crispy and seasoned, and the coleslaw balanced everything out with a fresh, tangy crunch. The atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming, and the service was friendly and fast. If you’re looking for a place that does BBQ right, The Swamp Shack should be at the top of your list.

So many wonderful things to say about this place. First off, if you’re looking for southern hospitality you will find it here. The food…oh my word! Let me tell you, we are from Memphis and we eat a lot of BBQ and Swamp Shack blew us away.
My husband had the brisket plate- it was the most tender brisket we’ve ever had. The beans and potato salad were wonderful too. I had the BBQ chicken tacos. The chicken was full of flavor and so tender. The slaw had just the perfect amount of dressing. The tacos were so good. I would eat them again for my next meal.
The owner came by our table and visited with us – super nice guy. We met his wife and his parents were in there eating too. They were all the kindest people. We left there happy & full!!

The best BBQ in Ellisville! Service was great. They were packed and still got food out in a timely manner! The pulled pork, baked beans, potato salad, and coleslaw were all delicious!

Wow, this place is SO GOOD. We’ve tried a lot of BBQ places around here, and Swamp Shack has definitely taken over my #1 spot!! The smoked chicken (sandwich) is amazing! I hate it when it ‘tastes’ reheated. Y’all know what I mean when chicken gets like that.. we’ve also had the St. Louis ribs, green beans, mac and cheese, tots, and baked beans (delicious recipe!). They have huge build your own burritos, with extra fillings like black beans, rice elote (street corn) salsa, spicy slaw, and more. I’m only disappointed that they are t open until Tuesday, because I want another one! Do yourself a favor, and go treat yourself!

I stopped in for lunch for the first time on 25 July 2024 to treat myself to a celebratory lunch after passing a difficult exam. This was the absolute best bbq I’ve had in years. I got the pork plate with baked beans and fried okra. The food was perfect and the hospitality was great. I will make another trip to this town next time I want bbq.
