We went there for Valentine dinner and it was an okay experience. I found this place as a recommendation from my friend and was disappointed. Firstly, when I called to make a reservation, they said they would not take any reservations for that day but when we went there, we were asked about it and then were added to a reservation. Secondly, the food took more than an hour to come and I had to ask the manager to check on it. We had 3 more tables next to us and everyone was served. The food overall was okay. The fish was very fishy and was sour with the tomatoes and onions on top of it. The lentil was okay, nothing special. The chicken curry was good but the chicken tasted little off. Overall, the quality of the food did not match the price and a long waiting period for the food did not give us a good experience but only gave the points for the ambiance.

I went this Wednesday with friends, there aren’t any restaurants in Dallas so this was exciting. Unfortunately we never were acknowledged until about 15-20 minutes of waiting so we asked a manager. She called our waiter and he got us situated, he was kind, but I don’t appreciate the lack of customer service for how expensive the food is. The food is great and as a Kenyan myself I’m picky but it’s a 8/10 my friends are Sudanese and loved the nyama choma and ngima! Next day though I ordered through DoorDash and it was not as good, the food arrived cold and on DoorDash it clearly says the mbuzi bites are served with plantain and kachumbari so when I didn’t get any plantain I called. Michelle answered the phone and had a bit of an attitude when I explained that it says on DD the plantains are included, she didn’t seem to want to listen to me explain. I wouldn’t have ordered if I knew. And her attitude was very off putting as she talked over me while I was calmly asking for clarification. This restaurant needs to update their menu and allow for included sides with plates it’s ridiculous! But for the price I’m not sure if I’ll be returning.

Me and my daughter were guests of a really nice friend. The food was excellent the workers are well dressed and very professional. We sat at the bar area and the bartender made us a really delicious mock tail with ginger lime and mint it was so refreshing. I learned a lot about the culture of the people just through eating the delicious food. I really enjoyed the music and the restaurant was beautiful and clean with great positive energy.

Our first visit to DC and by luck we started with this hidden gem! Located in the lower level. The food is amazing with an ambiance to match! Highly recommend the collared greens and jollof rice!

The food was tasty, but the service was horrific and slow. I had to inquire with the hostess about finding a server. Definitely will not be returning. I’ll take my hard-earned dollars elsewhere.

Great food and great atmosphere with music. It’s a bit crowded and the seating is a bit close to each other and the drinks are severely overpriced, though however I would still recommend and go back there.

Decently expensive, but totally worth it. First off – friendly, knowledgeable, attentive service. Friendly atmosphere and very well decorated nice restaurant. We got the combo platter for 2-3 and left stuffed. Delicious food, high quality ingredients, tasted very fresh. I’ll be returning for sure.

Update: The atmosphere was great. Price is good. The food was good too but it needed to be heated again.

Just stopped by for a drink. It was quite unfortunate that they don’t offer any African or original drinks or cocktail for an African restaurant. Well, we just settled for red wine and ginger drink.

Absolutely, great place the pictures online does not give it any justice. It’s cozy perfect for a date night or family gathering.
The service they were attentive and very knowledgeable of the food
The food came out, hot and delicious. No need to add any salt or pepper. It was perfectly seasoned. I would give this a chef’s kiss.

The food was very good I can’t complain. The price is very high, especially the samosas. I just don’t think the samosa should cost $10 for two. The service was very poor. My cousin and I sat for over 30 minutes before they attended to us.
