Very good burger. I come here often for beers, burgers and i usually get the hummus. Not a big pub, but they have outside tables in the summer. Good spot and the girls are always welcoming and friendly. I recommend getting the portage fries.

I’ve been going to Sutherlands for years because it’s just that good. Can never really go wrong with the food here. I’ve always loved the BBQ Smoke House Burger! I can’t find it anywhere but I swear it was like a Dr Pepper BBQ sauce. Either way, it’s so good.

A HUGE plus for this place is the tot’s. Not many places do tots and these are always so crispy.

I’ve been coming to Sutherland’s for about six years now. It’s always been one of my favorite neighborhood spots good drinks, familiar faces, and a comfortable atmosphere. Unfortunately, my last visit really changed how I feel about the place.
A friend and I came in for a few drinks and some appetizers. It was a busy night, but nothing too crazy. My food was wrong at first, but mistakes happen, and I didn’t make a fuss they fixed it and that was fine. The issue came at the end of the night. I paid for our main tab on my card but ordered an extra round of drinks in cash so I could get a couple of dollars back to pay my friend. It was only $2, but after about 15–20 minutes, the bartender never brought my change. When I politely asked someone else if I could get it back, the bartender came over visibly upset, slammed the money down, and said, “Here’s your two dollars.” That attitude really rubbed me the wrong way. I’ve worked in the service industry myself, and no matter how small the amount, I always made sure to confirm with the customer before assuming any change was a tip. It’s just basic respect and good etiquette. I’ve noticed lately that the quality of bartenders at Sutherland’s has gone downhill compared to how it use to be. I still love this neighborhood bar and hope management takes this as constructive feedback. Next time I stop in, I’ll make sure to sit with one of the bartenders I know provides great service because the regulars deserve better.

Sutherlands is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Steve and Laura and Marilyn is nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Amazing loaded fries. Must come back. 10/10.

Sutherland’s on Irving Park road and Long is my absolute favorite go-to in my local neighborhood. Their wings might be my favorite in the entire city but the Portage Park French Fries…To die for! The food is always consistently great, the servers are friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is always great. Whenever I’m craving high quality bar food, I look no further than here. Thanks for another great meal!

The customer service here was terrible from start to finish. When we walked in at 5:15-5:30p on December 8th 2025 , no one greeted us. We sat at the bar, and the blonde bartender asked for our IDs. We handed them directly to her, yet she placed them back on the counter instead of handing them to us unnecessary and rude.

She then walked away and brought over another woman with dark hair, who immediately approached us with a hostile attitude. She demanded our IDs again, even after we explained they were just checked. Her tone was aggressive and completely unprofessional.

The overall experience left a very negative first impression. I definitely will not be returning, and I hope management seriously retrains their staff to improve their customer service.

Driving down Irving Park hungry after work led me to Sutherlands. I sat out on the patio and enjoyed a Kentucky Mule and a burger. The drink was nice and stiff and the burger was satisfyingly messy. (I’m glad I was there alone!) I opted for tater tots (crunchy) and they did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and attentive and if I was a guy I’d think they weren’t half bad to look at either. All in all, I am happy that I stumbled across this place!

Great neighborhood bar. When I am dealing with my car servicing. I love to arrange the appointment around being able to have lunch here. Very friendly staff and food is yummy. I love my tater tots and these get a high ranking!

If you’re looking for a laid-back spot with great vibes and even better food, This neighborhood gem strikes the perfect balance between cozy and lively, making it an ideal spot for grabbing drinks with friends or winding down after a long day.

The staff is warm and welcoming, and the service never disappoints. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, you’ll feel right at home. One standout item on the menu is the Sutherland burger. It’s seasoned and stacked high with toppings. It’s the kind of bar food you crave but rarely find done this well.

With a solid beer selection, and a relaxed local crowd, Sutherland’s has that authentic Chicago bar charm that keeps people coming back.
