Reviews
Stay far away from this place. Nothing here seems to be cooked fresh in the kitchen—everything tastes prepackaged and reheated, like a TV dinner.
I ordered steamed shrimp dumplings and received clearly microwaved dumplings. They were the same frozen, prepackaged dumplings you can buy at an Asian grocery store, made in China.
My son ordered the Katsu Curry. The pork katsu was bone-dry, likely a frozen, pre-cooked product (possibly frozen prepackaged and imported from China). People know about poor quality of those frozen prepackaged products from China. Tons of chemical additives and preservatives . All ultra processed products. They are tastier, cheaper and convenient. Just macrowave and ready to consume!
The curry sauce was watery and tasted like curry cubes microwaved in water, with a few frozen vegetables thrown in—onion and green peas.
My husband ordered the Chicken Teriyaki. Once again, the chicken was bone-dry, drowned in heavy soy sauce, with very few microwaved vegetables. The dish was extremely salty and chewy.
After spending over $120, we realized we had made yet another poor dinner choice. Very disappointing.
We traveled all over the world and also cook everything at home. We know what it is freshly cooked and what is from prepackaged frozen and microwaved dish tastes like!!!!
I wrote all this for you because people should deserve to know what they are eating and paying for!!!
I’ve come here on and off for many years, as I believe this might be the oldest still open sushi place in Murfreesboro.
It’s not in my top 3, but it is generally a solid place. Today, we ordered a few different things that we weren’t huge fans of, but that’s okay.
I think they changed their spider roll, or maybe I just haven’t had theirs in a long time. It wasn’t what I was expecting, as I prefer the more traditional (in the sense that I prefer the kind I tend to get at other more traditional Japanese places…. the not heavily sauced) kind.
It wasn’t bad, and the food there never is. The food was just a little off tonight for us. And again, that might have been on us ordering different things.
Still, we ordered and ate a ton, laughed and enjoyed the atmosphere and great service, and we definitely didn’t leave dissatisfied.
This place has been open for a long time for a reason. Give them a shot!
The spicy tuna was a letdown, too much cucumbers , couldn’t really taste the tuna or their spice. Hawaiian roll looked good but the seaweed was so chewy. I ordered Salmon sashimi as well just to see how fresh their fish is on Tuesday. They were fresh but the size was ok but Km fine with them for the price point. I tried squid salad, even though they weren’t deep fried, they are a bit chewy, this is cooked and serve room temp towards chill. I found out that the couple who cooked and served were Korean. I should have leaned towards Korean food. The name of the restaurant misleading me that I was going get an awesome sushi dinner.
I took pix of their menu, a bit annoying that I couldn’t get to see the price unless I have another menu side by side.
When I searched for “Sushi near me” on Google map, this restaurant came up, I saw 4.4 stars and thought, I could give it a try. I should have zoom in those images from pep who love this place, they were cream cheese, half avocado, half fish, average price on rolls are $15 , I expect more fish. Just how I view a sushi restaurant ♀️
Edit: We went again the next day and it was just as good, even better! We tried the shrimp tempura roll (so good, looks just like the spider roll but with shrimp instead of crab), Fuji apple sake (only 8% alc so we didn’t feel bad trying it for lunch haha), and mentaiko rice balls (be careful, these really fill you up, you won’t have room for the rest!). Everything was so delicious I ate it before I could get more pictures so fresh and definitely a new regular for us!
The menu is large with a wide variety of eating options. The sushi is prepared nicely with both rolls both typical of other restaurants and unique to the locale available.
The atmosphere is relaxing and generally calming. However, at times odd choices for music are made. Generally, softer and more ambient sounds may be more fitting.
Overall, Sushin is a cozy pocket of Murfreesboro and one I wouldn’t dream of losing.
