Have not been here in a couple of years. Use to go to the one near Medical center and then started to coming to the Stone Oak one regularly years past. Came back to this place today with family to try it again. I usually only review great places I would recommend and try not to bash or review the places that I was disappointed in. Sadly, I feel I have to post about this place. It’s not the same anymore. Use to love the sushi but now very disappointed. We came around 430pm for happy hour, it was not crowded at all and quickly seated. The sushi were all not fresh. I ordered the sushi combo, husband got salmon & tuna nigiri. Kids had the kids steak bentos. I usually eat everything and more, but sadly we did not finish this meal. Server was very attentive and sweet. Sad about where one of my prior sushi staple has come.

Had the best time tonight here at Sushi Zushi (StoneOak) it was all because of our waitress. I don’t want to misspell her name, but it has to do with Greek Mythology and she’s absolutely beautiful inside and out. My son even made a comment, “wow she’s so good”…..Of course the food was delicious as always. I still love this place after 2 decades…..everything is always on point…from the ambiance, food, quality, and service. Sushi Zushi that’s how I roll.

Let me start by saying this isn’t about the sushi. I’ve been going to this restaurant for 20 years because their food is awesome, but lately the service and kitchen manning have taken a turn for the worse. We stopped dining at the restaurant because of the average 60-90 minute wait for food after we’d ordered. And tonight was the third time in a row that a delivery order has been AT LEAST 2 hours later than the online estimate. Every time it’s been the same line. “We’re short staffed.” If that’s true, they’ve been short staffed for years and clearly have no intention of correcting the deficiency. Tonight was strike three. After 20 years eating at my favorite sushi spot in SA, I’m done. I hope the management realizes this problem is on them and choose to correct it. The employees and community deserve better. Regardless, my family and I will be taking our business elsewhere.

I first had Sushi Zushi back in 2003. It was my first time trying sushi, and it changed my palate! Until this day I consider it my favorite restaurant. However, Sushi Zushi is straight trash now. Yesterday, I had mussels dynamite that tasted like dirty dish water. The bento box sashimi was slimy and the rice portion was less than usual. At this point, you are better off at Lin’s buffet for sushi. And that place is awful!

Ok guys, I have been coming to this location since it first opened. I am disappointed at how different it is now.

Atmosphere-wise it needs a total revamp. It cannot even compete with other sushi restaurants in the area, as it looks old and outdated and the furniture needs replacement.

I am also frustrated because I order from here a lot and every time there is something wrong with my order. The only time I actually called in was to let them know that their spicy tuna sunomono was bad, with mushy cucumbers and seaweed and the fish smelt awful. Other times I have just dealt with it, but after today I have to post something.

I ordered the cristina roll, which is my favorite. When I opened it I knew there was going to be issues. It looked like a disaster, the roll wasnt properly formed or sliced and the rice was falling off the roll. Not only that but the fish inside the roll still had the skin on, and the fish on top was sloppily sliced and looked unappetizing.

I did not even call in this time because I am just tired of always getting sub-par food. I really used to love this place, and that’s why I keep giving them more chances.

Whatever is going on with management, please fix it, because this location needs to up their game. The other locations dont have these issues, from what I have observed. Just so disappointing.

Zero stars if I could. This place is a Mexican resteraunt not a sushi bar if you want sushi dont come here unless your playing a joke on someone. Rolls are covered in sauce to cover up the cheap fish that always taste old management never admits there mistakes always have an excuse and always has to do with being understaffed. Been coming here for years they use to have more sushi chefs that actually could make sushi I dont know ow were they got these guys from

I went to the happy hour and it was pretty good. I ordered the pork and vegetable fried gyozas as an appetizer, a combination fried rice and I also had the spicy tuna roll and the Philadelphia roll. Everything was good. The cucumber martini was too strong, I didn’t like it that much. The service was excellent.

Sushi Zushi was one of the first places I tried sushi, such a long time ago. I have spent so much time trying so many different local spots and favorites that I have not eaten at a Sushi Zushi in over 10 years. Met a friend there today for lunch and was quite surprised and the quality, quantity, and overall experience. I apologize I don’t remember all of the rolls we ordered, I know there was a dragon roll in there, but all the rolls came out delicious. The ingredients were very fresh and obviously great care was taken in the preparation of these rolls. We came away full and satisfied. It was nice to come back to a place after so many years and still get a solid product.

Been going here for years not just this location but mostly stone oak and everything has gone downhill from the sushi chefs to quality of food rice is always old hard and cold like it was yesterday’s rice which they do use old rice. The quality of fish has been bad for a while and top that off with bad chefs rolls keep falling apart. I order thin slices sashimi and they gave me the tail end they do t even know the best cuts of fish to use. There spicynsalmon is always so old and nasty tasting cant order anything with that im curious how old the rest of the fish is.
