the food is amazing, of course — but the real highlight is the experience itself. It doesn’t take long to understand why the sushi place is called YOLO. We ordered a bottle of sake, but the waiter just kept the drinks coming, and honestly… I don’t even remember how I got home. It was incredible. I ate really well, drank way too much, and met great people. Totally worth it. I’d go back without thinking twice!!
The restaurant is omakase style only with the option to order extra nigiri’s after the meal. Counter seating only which provided an intimate setting to see what the chef is doing. Chef meticulously prepares each dish and introduces what each course is. Fish is super fresh and well prepared. The rice was cooked perfectly. The meal was around 90 minutes long and can extend a bit if you decide to have add-ons at the end.
Staff were really friendly and engaged in conversation throughout the night which was really nice! Would come again for date night in the near future.
I will certainly be a regular here and tell everyone I know to come!
For this price point, this is the best omakase you can enjoy in the neighborhood. They truly know how to bring out the best in high-quality ingredients.
This is the sushi spot I confidently recommend the most to people around me in this area.
The staff were friendly, and the entire meal felt relaxed and comfortable from start to finish.
Highly recommend
The omakase, a generous 16-course progression, highlights the kind of quality and attention to detail you’d expect from far pricier Manhattan sushi counters. Each piece is served with thoughtful explanation and often a story from the owner-chefs, whose warmth and pride in their craft elevate the experience. The service, too, strikes the perfect balance of professional and personal—attentive without being intrusive.
Sake lovers will especially appreciate the excellent cold sake selection, curated to complement the progression of courses. The staff is happy to recommend pairings, making the journey through the menu feel both guided and exploratory.
Despite its high level of craftsmanship, Sushi YOLO remains reasonably priced by Manhattan omakase standards, making it a rare find: world-class sushi in a setting that feels both approachable and special. If you’re lucky enough to grab a seat, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve discovered one of New York’s best-kept secrets.
