I wish I could rate 100 stars. This is a beautiful restaurant with decor, ambient lighting and low noise. The food is super fresh – the fish for every sashimi and role we got was impeccable. The presentation and flavors were succulent. We got soba tea – which I have never had and they showed us how they make it fresh. The staff members were very sweet and attentive.

For the quality the prices are lower than I would expect. I am looking forward to coming back for a special occasion to enjoy the 15 course meal

So amazing fancy music, luxurious and amazing service are so considerate amazing decoration and if you come here many times, they’ll know exactly what you need

Me and my dad always come here and I love my eel sauce and he loves his spicy mayo and we don’t even ask for that stuff anymore and they just bring it out. It’s so amazing here. Love this place.

Overall the sushi is good but It ends there.

The service is really slow despite the place being empty. You’ll get your entire before the appetizers.

Quality control- my susi would come off at times if ordering a special roll.
And crab Rangoon had a large price of plastic.
(I guess it’s hand made and not store brought ‍♀️)

Id only come here if you’re looking just for basic sushi rolls.

This was my third visit to this sushi restaurant, and unfortunately the experience has been consistently disappointing for one main reason: the restaurant is extremely cold.

Although the ambiance is pleasant and the service is acceptable, the temperature inside makes it impossible to feel comfortable. Each time I’ve been here, I had to keep my jacket on throughout the meal. The staff’s explanation—that it’s cold outside and the heating system cannot handle it—is not a valid justification for a dining establishment.

If a restaurant cannot maintain a basic level of comfort for its guests, it should not be operating during colder months. Until this issue is properly addressed, I do not recommend this place at all. It currently functions more like a seasonal restaurant, not suitable for cold weather.

[Hibachi review only – I did not order any sushi.] This restaurant, which used to be Sumo Sushi & Hibachi, is apparently under new ownership. I ordered from Sumo Sushi & Hibachi regularly and really enjoyed the food. I was in the area today for the first time in about 18 months and decided to try the restaurant – now Sushi Ume. I did what I regularly did under the previous ownership: I ordered in person at the restaurant and waited for my order to be ready to take home. While they still serve “hibachi” they do not offer any flexibility in the order – I asked for noodles instead of fried rice and was told that the fried rice was included and I could purchase a side of noodles for $3. I ordered hibachi steak, medium rare, and it was accompanied by fried rice, hibachi vegetables, and a miso soup. [Under the previous ownership, the meal used to also include a salad.]The steak was poor quality, over cooked, and very chewy. The fried rice was tasty, but oily. The vegetables were also oily and not flavorful. The noodles were not worth the extra $3 – they were overcooked/mushy, and not flavorful. The restaurant does not have ginger or mustard sauce, something that was not mentioned until after my order was ready; I heard this issue come up with another patron as well. I suggested to the server that mentioning that they don’t have these 2 sauces – standard with hibachi orders in most restaurants – prior to a diner ordering a $35 meal would be helpful and she did not understand why that would be important, then offered “yumi” sauce as a substitute. I will not order hibachi here again; there are much better options in the area.

This restaurant has recently been renovated, and the updated space feels modern, and noticeably more inviting than before. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, making it a pleasant place to settle in for a meal. The dining room did feel a bit chilly during our visit, though with the temperature outside hovering around 8 degrees F, it’s understandable and likely difficult to fully avoid on such a cold day.

The food was the highlight of the experience. The sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and served in generous portions with impressively sized cuts of fish. The hibachi dishes were equally enjoyable and well-prepared. The ramen was just as satisfying and especially comforting on such a cold day—it really hit the spot and rounded out the meal perfectly. My only small critique is that the sauces leaned sweeter than I personally prefer, as I typically don’t associate soy-based flavors with sweetness. That said, the overall quality, portion sizes, and care in preparation made for a very satisfying meal. I would happily return and recommend it to others looking for a cozy spot with excellent sushi, hibachi, and ramen.

Pleasantly surprised that this caliber of sushi exists in Westchester! Pictured is the omakase set that we got as takeout. You’d be hard-pressed to find better sushi in the sub-$100 range in NYC itself. (They frequently run takeout specials for the omakase set on Uber Eats which brings it down to $80.)

This is a great value Japanese roll restaurant in Eastchester
I ordered delivery through Uber Eats. The set of three rolls was $18, and you could choose between miso soup or a salad drink. I liked the fact that I could choose my own menu I choose shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, Philadelphia roll (smoked salmon, avocado, and cream cheese).
Sometimes, the sushi rice is dry or blown out, making it tasteless,
but Sushi Ume was fine.
If you’re looking for value sushi rolls, try it.
