Reviews
The village has a few other options. One of them with live music. Sushi Taisho is a small place. Since we were only two people the option we got to sit inside was at the bar.
Friendly staff, nice place. Good amount of options and prices. The cooks are great!!! Friendly and they know what they are doing for sure. Flavor and sizes are great!!! We had the Combo No 1 and Miso.
The sushi was delicious. I especially enjoyed the Dragon Roll and the spicy tuna hand roll was spectacular.
The service was good although it took a while to get our first plates but we weren’t in a hurry so we enjoyed talking and listening to the tunes.
Definitely worth the wait and we will return
The TLDR is that the fish was warm and not well cut. The sushi rice wasn’t seasoned well – dry and undercooked. Service was slow and not super pleasant.
We had the mixed tempura which was okay but the tempura sauce was overly sweet.
The nigiri wasn’t much to write home about. It was similar to what I have gotten at Costco. The fish was warm and the cuts weren’t neat. We tried one hamachi cut roll which was okay, but not great.
It felt hyped. The interior was nice but the floors felt a little sticky.
I was hoping for a cute date night but it ended up being underwhelming.
We went during their busy days/times and the longest we’ve ever had to wait was 10 minutes. The other two times we didn’t have to wait at all. The atmosphere is great for the most part. I recommend staying inside so that the music below doesn’t drown out your conversations.
The food is not only affordable, but also good quality. Most sushi places we’ve been to, we’ve had to wait a long time until we get out food. At Taisho, it only takes a couple minutes. I recommend not ordering all at once or else your entire table will be filled with food.
I can’t emphasize enough how kind everyone who works there is. My boyfriend and I are always surprised just how kind everyone is and not in a pushy kind of way. This most recent time we both said “This is the only place I can think of where I would easily give a 25% or high tip because they very much deserve it.” That’s how excellent the service there is.
So if you want to get good sushi, at good prices, with excellent service, I highly recommend you check out Taisho.
The service was excellent, portions were huge, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We sat inside, and one thing we really appreciated was that you couldn’t hear the live music from downstairs. It kept the atmosphere calm and made it easy to enjoy conversation over dinner.
Normally we steer clear of overly “Pinteresty” or trendy-looking places, but this one struck the right balance. The interior had a nice look, the food presentation was thoughtful, and most importantly, the flavors lived up to the visuals. On top of that, this ended up being the best value meal of our entire vacation.
What we tried:
Chicken Teriyaki – Generous portion, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
Beef Yakisoba – Comforting, hearty, and packed with flavor.
Green Tea – Fresh loose-leaf, smooth and aromatic.
Chamomile Tea – Served as a bag, but still a nice touch and a soothing finish to the meal.
If you’re in the area, Sushi Taisho is a must. Great service, great food, and an unbeatable value. We left full, happy, and ready for our evening walk through the village.
➡️ Sushi portions are large and reasonably priced.
➡️ Good menu with options for everyone, even non-sushi eaters.
➡️ Service was outstanding, Johanna was on top of it and super friendly!
Came in with a party of five and were seated immediately. Staff is very kind!
Restaurant is on the second floor
We started with a few options from the appetizer menu u and didn’t go wrong.
Immediately went for the sashimi and it was great!
After that we had a handful of rolls. Food is excellent
