The portion sizes, huge. The food, fresh! The service, impeccable. The atmosphere, a total vibe! Chill, comfortable, music playing softly. Miso soup made daily to perfection. Sushi rolled right there in the dining room and you could hear the tempura cooking!
The food and service reflects the passion and expertise the owner has. And I will be coming back. Next sushi date already planned! I hope next time I see more sushi loving patrons in seats!

After a challenging experience at Gangnam – Sushi & Grill in Tempe, I was excited to explore Sushi Stop in Mesa, just 8 miles away.
I am absolutely thrilled that I chose Sushi Stop! The Sushi Chef Alex and his wonderful team were incredibly welcoming. Alex even has a lovely waitress with a radiant smile, which added to the delightful atmosphere. I truly enjoyed the warmth of this crew.
I ordered their Sashimi plates, and I was delighted by the freshness and firmness of the fish—so delicious! Alex surprised me with the REAL WASABI, not the typical green horseradish, which was a fantastic touch.
I had a fantastic evening filled with delicious fish and the friendly company of the staff. What an amazing sushi restaurant!
Like everyone else has said, the rolls are huge and this place is take-out only. Seems like they had online ordering too. The lady in the front was super sweet.
The place looks cutesy and Japanese, so I suspect it’s Japanese-owned which is the first I’ve seen in this general area.
The rolls are all nearly thick as a coke can (so beware in case that’s not your thing). The flavors and ingredients are quality and delicious. We got the Mac Daddy, Las Vegas Roll, Compton roll, Jpop roll, Eel Avo Cucumber roll, and a Fire Washington bowl. We had to put the bowl in the fridge bc we did not expect such big rolls. We loved each roll.
This place is just one door, in the same plaza as a pizza place and a Goodwill. My big order took less than 20 minutes.
My only regret is not trying this place sooner. If you haven’t given this place a chance, please do, and you won’t regret it.
We started with the edamame – a quintessential staple, as well as the jalapeño poppers. These were pleasantly spicy while being filled to the brim with a delicious cream cheese filling thats then battered in tempura and fried.
We ordered 4 rolls: the mexican, the Arizona, the rainbow and the shrimp tempura roll. Each roll had its unique features but was fresh, expertly rolled and packed with flavor. We ordered a side of spicy mayo and were even offered freshly ground wasabi for those of us who like it really spicy. We barely needed to touch them because these rolls were so well made. The ginger slices were crisp, refreshing and juicy.
We can’t wait to come back and make more memories with great food and great company. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
