Sushi Sho is truly one of my favorite omakase experiences anywhere in the world. I’ve had sushi in Japan, Korea, and across the U.S., and this place still stands out as one of the very best. I’ve already visited four times in the past six months.

Reservations are very difficult to get because the full experience is at the chef’s counter, and there are only a limited number of seats. But once you sit down and start the meal, you immediately understand why it’s so sought after.

The ingredients are exceptionally fresh, and every piece is prepared with incredible care and precision. Each visit has been memorable and honestly a little emotional in the best way. My personal favorite is the ankimo, which is absolutely outstanding.

I loved it so much that I ended up bringing my whole family here as well. If you appreciate true omakase, this place is something special and absolutely worth the effort to reserve.

I’m so excited we got to try this omasake experience during our visit. Such a wonderful and unique tasting experience. My husband and I were very pleased. The serve was also wonderful and very tentative.

Edomae-style sushi omakase with great sake-pairing options. Top-notch varieties of fish and delicate prep for all of them.
Very high-end, expecting at least $600+ per person for the pairing experience and extra dishes to feel full at the end.

Dining at Sushi Sho was a memorable experience, especially getting to watch Chefs work with such precision and artistry right in front of us.

The craftsmanship and dedication to every piece of sushi were clear, and the quality of the fish was outstanding.

I opted for the sake pairing, which-while generous-felt a bit overwhelming for one small person. A lighter or more curated pairing might be more enjoyable.

I also would have appreciated a bit more explanation about each dish, especially given the complexity and uniqueness of the menu. The chef clearly put a lot of intention into each bite, but the communication didn’t quite match that level of care.
Lastly, while the chef was highly engaged, the supporting staff seemed a bit distracted with other parties, which made the overall service feel slightly uneven.
Still, it was a special evening and worth experiencing if you’re interested in high-level omakase in Honolulu.

Sushi Sho is one of North America’s finest sushi restaurants. The price is commensurate with the quality. A definite do not miss for a special occasion meal or just a well deserved treat.

Absolutely floored by this spot. Don’t get sticker shock because of the price. While it is steep, it is 100% worth every penny. This has got to be in my top 3 sushi experiences I’ve ever been to. I’ve traveled to Japan and beyond, and this place was incredible.

Incredible quality. Fantastic service. If you love sushi, You cannot miss this!

Truly amazing and extraordinary, every course is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. The sparking sake in particular was unexpectedly outstanding. Only problem is it’s so hard to book, but still, I look forward to returning soon.

Made a reservation at 8 pm. It is a very traditional way of sushi, where it’s mainly raw fish. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The texture and flavor of the different fish/sushi is one word delicious. Very umami. My wife and I had a great time eating and talking to the chief. It’s definitely worth the try for sushi lovers.

3rd visit. The quality has dropped significantly compared to 2022 visit. omakase round offers mostly cheap American fish from USA west coast. It’s Very unbelievable to have a Seattle dungeness crab, which is 10$/lb in the States, WA/Boston clams/oysters, sb uni, CA eel in the so called high-end sushi place. I guess good stuff are all sent to their nyc spot. Okonomi was also super disappointing. No kuruma, no hairy crab, no shoko. It’s Very funny They now put snapper, salmon roe and squid as extra.

I’ve had a lot of fancy meals in a lot of fancy places and this was one of the more magical experiences. Would recommend without reservation or concern.

In reading other reviews I don’t think the add on feedback is fair—it’s pretty common for omakase spots on the west coast and the pricing was reasonable per slice. I can’t speak to the decline in food quality since my first time was Oct 25 but everything I had was wonderful with a clear POV
