Reviews
1 Fatty Tuna Uni Bowl
This dish was good but could be made a little better. The combination between rice and toro was not proportional.
2 Crab Risotto
Completely different from the image on their website and Google page, but still the best dish we tried. Very soft texture and bold flavor.
3 Scallop Crudo
Interesting combination. It’s cucumber broth with three pieces of raw scallop on top.
4 Edamame
The best dish ever. Very interesting combination of flavors.
5 Panna Cotta
Dessert with granola on top. Interesting and pleasant combination.
They are currently going through seasonal menu changes, so some dishes were not available, but it didn’t change my experience. It was still amazing.
First and foremost – book a reservation. Not necessary but highly recommended if you are not a fan of waiting like me. Ever since I found this place, I can say it’s my all time favorite sushi spot and possibly even cocktail bar.
Secondly – I have been to Japan and my standards have been set. Luckily, I don’t have to go to Japan for fresh sushi which is great! There’s no dish I have not liked here which is insane. From the appetizers, entrees, nigiri’s, bowls, desserts to cocktails…their whole menu is you can’t miss.
They just changed their menu as well which is refreshing bevause I get to try new creations and *chefs kiss* because I love trying new dishes.
Let’s dive right into the food –
Hamachi Carpaccio 10/10
Sashimi Sampler 10/10
Karage 10/10 (great for kids as well!)
Crab Risotto 11/10 (one of my personal favs!)
Oyako Udon 10/10 (the base has so much depth! Yet still very clean)
Uni Fatty Don w/ Truffle 10/10 (truffle )
Basque cheesecake 11/10 (I always get one to go to pair with my tea the following day)
Yuzu Drop 11/10 (staple!)
Honestly, the cocktails are all good. You’ll meet Tony and you’ll know why.
The vibes are super aesthetic, yet chill. I love that it doesn’t ever get overwhelmingly crowded even if it’s fully booked. Being able to enjoy my meal is such a nice experience for dates, meetings, and catching up with friends or family.
Thank you for existing!
PS. Take your dates here. Guaranteed a memorable experience!
PSS. If you drink not for the pure reason of escaping reality – the cocktails are truly an artwork meeting an experience. Aroma therapy while tasting the depth of each sip is exquisite. The layers of layered flavor profiles are really fun.
The omakase included 12 courses for $125 (after tax&tip) where you are served 8 pieces of sushi, 2 small appetizers, a small sliver of an entree and a dessert. Each course was unique, each with its own special twist. The chef’s presentation of each sushi and the risotto were truly the stars of the night.
My only complaints stem from the amount of time we had to wait in between each course and the amount of food received during the experience. While it was lovely to watch such a passionate chef create each individual sushi, we watched other servers and chefs stand around while we were left to starve in between courses. Omakase took 2 hours to finish and we left unsatisfied and still extremely hungry.
I highly recommend you visit this location, but eat a quick meal beforehand. This restaurant is definitely worth a try!
Unfortunately, the experience was marred by what followed. The final bill included a 20% service charge, something we didn’t realize in the moment because it wasn’t immediately obvious. As a result, we unknowingly added an additional 20% tip on top, totaling hundreds of extra dollars. We were happy to tip generously, but this felt like a preventable error.
After realizing our mistake while reviewing the bill later that night, we reached out to the restaurant via phone and email the very next day. We’ve followed up several times over the past week and have yet to receive any response whatsoever. No acknowledgment, no clarification, no willingness to address the issue… just silence.
This lack of communication is deeply disappointing and unfortunately overshadowed what was otherwise a good meal. In contrast, we visited Trestle (another fantastic SF spot) later that week, where their 20% service charge was clearly circled and no tip line was included, making it impossible to double-tip unintentionally. That’s the kind of thoughtful, transparent experience we appreciate.
I don’t take joy in leaving a critical review, but I do believe guests deserve clarity on service charges and the courtesy of a response when they try to rectify a genuine mistake.
Couldn’t book the bar seating at first on open table, but ended up asking for it when we got there and are so glad we did. Had a great time with the chef and staff and will be very sad when they become fully booked in the near future.
