My husband and I went to Sushi Roku in Austin, and we were really impressed. We’ve been to several Sushi Roku locations around the country, and this one definitely held up. The space is stylish and modern with a great atmosphere—perfect for a casual dinner or a night out. We ordered a mix of nigiri, specialty rolls, and small plates. Everything was fresh, nicely presented, and delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service pace was just right. They also have a solid sake and cocktail list to round out the meal. Overall, a great sushi spot in Austin—we’ll definitely be back.

All of the food was amazing tonight, standouts would be the Tuna Crudo and the Serrano Hamachi ,Tuna Jalapeño roll and the Popcorn Shrimp Tempura. Would put this place up with the best of them, Junai, Uchi, Uchiko, and more. This was a great dining experience.

SUSHI ROKU Austin is a great downtown pick when you want sushi with a modern, upscale vibe. The dining room feels stylish and energetic, but still comfortable for a longer dinner. The nigiri was fresh, the specialty rolls were creative without being over-the-top, and the hot dishes we tried were solid too. Service was attentive and paced the meal well. It’s definitely a “treat yourself” spot, and I’d come back for happy hour or a date night.

The overall atmosphere is very cute — a tad bit noisy for a daytime visit if you’re really trying to hear the person across from you. The music could stand to be a little quieter, but considering the area and the vibe, it’s understandable.

Now let’s talk about the food.

The miso soup was very flavorful and bold. Every scoop came with a hefty bite of tofu and seaweed — they did not skimp. It felt intentional and comforting.

We ordered the California roll — and listen, if you mess up a California roll, I will never come back. It’s the baseline test. Needless to say, they passed with flying colors. Fresh, balanced, and done exactly how it should be.

My dinner partner had the ramen made with pork broth, and of course I had to taste it. The broth was rich, bold, and deeply flavorful — the kind of ramen that warms you all the way through.

Our server was attentive without hovering, which is always appreciated. Present, professional, and timely.

Overall rating: 8.9 out of 10 — and yes, I’ll definitely be back.

Cool location, cool decor. Big parking garage around the corner. Very nice wait staff. Wagyu dumplings were great, best thing we had.

LOVED IT! My son is about to turn 18 and Sushi is one of his favorite foods… He requested Sushi Roku and we had the best dinner. So good. Highly recommend. Our waiter, James, was next level and we loved meeting the manager, V. They were both great and made the night!

One of my favorite dinners I’ve ever been to! Mackenzie absolutely made this experience extra special. She offered for my friend and I to give her a budget and she would create a “custom omakase” for us and it was phenomenal and SO fun! She picked wonderful dishes and was just such a fun server in general. All of the food we had was also so fresh and delicious! Definitely my favorite dinner while I was visiting Austin!

Sushi Roku is a sleek and modern spot that delivers on both food and atmosphere. The sushi is fresh and beautifully presented favorites like the yellowtail serrano and wagyu on crispy rice really stood out.

Cocktails are fun and creative, making it a great place to start a night out. Service was very good & made the whole night for me.

The vibe is lively and upscale, & perfect if you’re looking for a fun dinner with great energy. 12/10 I highly recommend ✨

Some of the best Sushi in Austin with amazing selection and presentation. Vibe is both upscale and laid back at the same time. Service was attentive and welcoming, also helpful with the menu.

We really wanted to like this place, but the experience was disappointing overall.

The food was fine, but nothing special — especially for the price. A few of the appetizers came out cold, and for what we paid, it just didn’t feel worth it. It felt like we were paying more for the ambiance than the actual food.

The bigger issue was the service. Our server, James, seemed completely checked out the entire night. Almost angry from the start. I could tell he was fed up with the kitchen and bar. The timing was all over the place, and the whole meal took over two and a half hours. My mother-in-law waited about 40 minutes for a drink, which was frustrating.

What really bothered me was that instead of clearing the table, they kept stacking new plates on top of dirty ones. When I politely asked if the table could be cleared, the server rolled his eyes at me. That was honestly embarrassing, especially since we were there celebrating my father-in-law’s birthday.

I’m not someone who usually complains or writes reviews, but between the slow service, the attitude, and average food at a high price point, it just wasn’t a good experience. Not sure what’s going on with the kitchen or the front-of-house, but management may need to either 1. Treat their staff better or 2. Get new staff.
