I visited here to celebrate my birthday with my family. The atmosphere is quiet, and the interior is neat and modern. The food came out at a moderate pace according to the great temperature and you can pair various types of alcohol together. Every time the food came out, the chefs kindly explained the ingredients along with how to eat it, and it’s a place I would recommend for visiting on a special days. The staff and service were kind.

Omakase in Melbourne is becoming quite saturated and so aside from just having good sushi, there needs to be something that sets apart one from another. We had the lunch Omakase which admittedly is not as thorough as the dinner menu, but $149 is still a lot of money for lunch. Each nigiri was crafted with care and the fish was very high quality but it didn’t leave you feeling that this was any better than any other omakase in Melbourne.

We visited here to celebrate Valentine’s Day and absolutely loved it. The food was amazing and not overly westernised, which we really appreciated. The chefs were all kind and lovely. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Thank you Chef Yong for a lovely experience at Sushi On. Wonderful hospitality, very attentive and accommodating. It was very comfortable and we didn’t feel rushed at all. We enjoy a delicious lunch and drinks. Plus a special Happy Birthday song made my day.

If we’re not comparing renovations but rather the quality and taste of food then this is better than Kisume, better than Komeyu, and better than Kenzan, it’s even better than Warabi.

Really well done, so glad to have an amazing alternative to what has been there all these years.

Chef was incredible.
Thoroughly enjoyed the intimate setting as the host also made the night incredibly calm and relaxed. Each dish was served thoughtfully and timed so well. I really couldn’t complain about anything except for wanting some takeaway to relive the experience.

Had such a lovely lunch with a friend at Sushion (so great they have a Friday lunch) — first time back since last year, and the whole menu had changed! Everything was super fresh, especially the sauces. The first sushi with wasabi and yuzu totally blew my mind, and the one with shiso sauce was so good I almost screamed! Definitely going back next time for the dinner course — can’t wait!”

This is my second visit and this time I had the lunch omakase. The first time I had the dinner omakase which was over two years ago when Chef On was the only one making the sushi. The nigiri and sushi rice was just as good this time and the seafood were fresh. Enjoyed trying a variety of white fish back to back, each with slightly different texture and flavour. The tuna nigiris in the start were good, especially the medium and fatty tuna, but my favourites were the last few pieces which included the torched scallop handroll topped with scallop salt, the torched scampi pressed sushi with miso butter, and the all-in-one maki roll wrapped in a special seaweed. The egg omelet at the end was also very tasty with a sweet and soft spongy castella like texture. Overall it was a delicious omakase and the service was great; both the chefs and staff were friendly, and I appreciate how sushi is not only made and served by one particular chef depending on where you are seated.

What an experience. Went here with my bestie for my birthday and would 100% come again. Wonderful staff and delicious high quality bites. You can definitely tell the quality is high. You do not go go hungry as there are plenty of courses to try and even add on. The vibes are very warm and welcoming, not pretentious at all. It was friendly yet intimate. Even the people around us were happily chatting amongst themselves and smiling. The chefs would occasionally banter with us and it made the meal so much more enjoyable. Shout out to Ken specifically he went out of his way to provide exemplary service and definitely some laughs, while still remaining very professional and attentive. They even gave me extra uni on my sushi piece for my birthday – did not skimp out at all, they didn’t have to be so nice. They all deserve a raise, and the chefs hats they’ve received. You get your monies worth. As someone who’s dont several omakase experiences in Australian and Japan, this was a great one.
