As a former sushi chef, this was one of the most concerning dining experiences I’ve had in years.

The restaurant didn’t know the menu at all, not the fish, not the rolls, not even the sauces. Things got worse when we were served frozen fish, and only after it hit the table were we asked if it was “okay” for us to eat it that way.

We ordered four rolls, and every single one showed signs of improper handling. The fish was watery, soggy, and clearly thawed incorrectly. The rolls were cut unevenly, falling apart, and the flavors were unexpectedly sour. Despite the long wait, nothing about the food suggested care or basic technique.

The restaurant also had a strong smell of old, dirty dishwater, something I recognize from years in the industry as a sign of poor cleaning practices. It was noticeable the moment we walked in.

Between the lack of menu knowledge, the mishandled fish, the sour flavors, and the unsanitary smell, this restaurant is operating far below safe or acceptable standards. I cannot recommend it until serious issues in training, food handling, and sanitation are addressed.

Omg. Finally!!! Sushi in the RM! The food is FANTASTIC!!!! From start to finish the entire experience was enjoyable. Very friendly staff and seriously, I cannot say enough about the food. I ordered the Bama Roll and the Doggy Dogg Roll. Insane good. Also, if you spend $20 you get a free California roll (1 per table I think). Absolutely LOVE that!!! You. MUST check this place out. No saki yet tho. They’re working on the liquor license. Cant wait! I will be here at least once a week!!!

Read these ridiculous 1 star reviews and my entire table is appalled. This is top notch sushi. It’s reasonably priced and absolutely delicious!!!!! The service is stellar. This has become our new favorite spot. Was told they applied for a liquor license and when that’s received this is where we will all spend our happy hours. I cannot say enough positive things about this place. Bravo!!!!

We’ve been to this new sushi spot in the City Market twice now, and both experiences were absolute 10 out of 10. The sushi is incredibly fresh, the atmosphere is bright and clean, and the little sushi bar gives it a fun, authentic vibe. Service has been top-notch each time—our server (I think her name was Barthani) was fantastic: pleasant, personable, and very attentive.

The first time, we brought a group of 10 from our business, and the bill was surprisingly affordable for the quality and amount of food. Everyone enjoyed it so much that when it came time to pick a place again, the whole group wanted to come back here. That says a lot.

Delicious food, great service, comfortable atmosphere, and excellent value—we’ll definitely be back again soon. A wonderful addition to the City Market dining scene!

As “Authentic” as their AI generated wall art.

I was excited to try Sushi Nami in the River Market because I live in the area. Went in one minute before my carryout order was due for pickup, only to find the employees staring at me like deer in headlights. I was told it would be 5 minutes. Really? Even though you haven’t started it yet?

I had ordered a shrimp tempura platter, fried gyoza, a spicy tuna roll, and a California roll. As I waited, I took a look around at the interior. Sushi Nami claims on their website to be authentic Japanese sushi. Why, then, are all of their cheap decorations plastered with unintelligible fake Japanese characters? I can understand trying to save money when opening a new restaurant, but you can at least care enough about the culture to make sure the language is correct. If that was all. I could still give this place a passing score, because we all know what really matters is the food. But the food…

If you have ever had even mediocre shrimp and vegetable tempura, you will be disappointed here. I got two small shrimp, some mushy kabocha, and some onion rings that looked like they came straight out of a frozen bag. No tempura tsuyu or dipping sauce at all.

The gyoza were deep fried, not pan fried like yaki gyoza should be, and the dipping sauce tasted like shirodashi mixed with a ton of vinegar. Honestly, they were edible, but not at all worth the price.

I thought “OK, maybe their fried stuff isn’t what they are great at. It’s called SUSHI Nami, not Tempura Nami or Gyoza Nami. Maybe their sushi will be amazing.” It wasn’t. You could get the same quality of their tiny rolls at your local supermarket for half the price. The tuna roll was flavorless and warm, as was the california roll. The one thing they didn’t skimp on was the fake wasabi.

I will not visit this place again, and I recommend that you avoid it as well.

焼き餃子ではなく揚げ餃子だし、海老や野菜の天ぷらもかわいそうだし、お寿司からサービスに至るまで不満が多くておすすめできない。

Okay, YUM. Not only did our rolls look beautiful, they tasted AMAZING! Everything was so good, the restaurant is decorated so nicely, and the service was great. This is definitely going to become a regular spot for us to grab sushi!

We eat lunch at the river market every Sunday after church and we’re very excited to see a sushi place open up.

We were the only ones in there, it’s very small but bright and eclectic. We have a calamari appetizer which my daughter really liked, but I did not enjoy it all. The batter was kind of weird, almost like a cornmeal and oddly mushy.

We got one specialty roll and one house roll and they were both fantastic. Really bright flavors, interesting preparations with lots of options and variety. We were both very happy with the roles and will definitely return, just not for the calamari.

We spent $44 for the two of us on one appetizer, two rolls and two pots of tea. I thought it was reasonably priced and a great lunch.

We stopped by Saturday for the first time. We were quite pleased overall. I was surprised there weren’t more dine-in customers. Our service was fast and friendly. The spring roll appetizer was one of the best I’ve had in the area. We followed that with the (F3) Godzilla Roll, (H6) Scallop, mixed crab & cucumber, and the (H14) Spicy tuna. These were so fresh and delicious. All served with a plethora of ginger and a nice helping of wasabi. So GOOD! We had enough to share a meal the following day too. Well worth the visit and we will be back. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
