The space looks cluttered and dirty. The floor boards creek and the building itself feels rickety. The food had an underlying musty taste. The soup. The salad. The sushi. All underlying musty. I kept looking around for evidence of uncleanliness because it just felt dirty in there. If you zoom in on the sushi boat we ordered you’ll see what I mean. We won’t be going back.

We came on a Sunday afternoon.. it wasn’t busy at all just a few tables..
The service was great and the restrooms were clean..

I had two issues, one mainly it’s not a sushi place for me because the sushi rolls were just average and were not rolled good and kept falling apart plus the rice wasn’t good and the meat inside wasn’t a good portion so the price for all that wasn’t worth it..

A major issue and was alarming for me when there was a fruit fly was pestering me.. for me a restaurant that has a fruit fly teaching the dinning area means there’s smth wrong in the kitchen..

So for us it’s a last visit.. the sushi was better a few years back

But the staff are pretty friendly and the place is clean especially the bathroom

This place is INCREDIBLE! The owner himself, Nabe is just such a kind ray of sunshine, he was there rolling all the sushi himself & the waitstaff is just such a pleasure! I am so thankful I walked into Attack of a Tatsu across town who sent me here (I’m here for work) Keri was my waitress & she is just a doll!

Everything we had was delicious. The tonkatsu ramen was really tasty, the greens in it are spicy – I loved it – but if you don’t like spicy leave it out. My husband liked the sushi a lot. My son loved the yakatori and the ramen. The Japanese salad was mixed leaf, which was interesting and the ginger sauce was a bit sweet but very fresh. The miso soup was smokey and salty and tasted great. We will be going back for sure.
Edit: we did go back and I knocked one star off, because if this had been our first time we would not have given it but 3… The sushi was too loose and fell apart, also uneven cuts. The ramen broth was rather undeveloped. The yakatori this time was small flat pieces of chicken and we got the jumbo calamari – they came out looking like onion rings -okay- with barely any sauce and no lemon, they were just okay by my husbands standards and really chewy by mine. Our service this time was not good waited 20 minutes with my card in my hand for him to even acknowledge us, even though he kept going to the table beside us. So just know sometimes you get Sushi Nabe 5 stars and sometimes 3 but for the price it should almost always be on point and servers should be good.

City scope boat was good but the one that stood out the best was the blue ridge roll. Both others were good but I’ll definitely be ordering blue ridge roll when I go back ! Chicken teriyaki and seafood tempura were ehhh. Overall pretty decent food with great service !

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Nabe. The staff from top to bottom were so attentive and you could tell they truly cared if you were enjoying yourself. The environment is so perfect for a local sushi spot. The beef dumplings were SO good! All of our sushi was very fresh and of high quality. We highly recommend the Blue Ridge roll! We would be honored to return❤️

Great Saturday evening dinner for 3 of us. Our server Ashley was friendly and attentive. We had hot appetizers of spring rolls and a breaded shitake mushroom dish. For dinner we all had different dishes, from roll sushi to sashimi to hot entrées. Everything was delicious.

We had made a reservation a couple days earlier, and had no wait at all. It was not crowded, and probably only half full.

I’ve seen people comment on the cost. Our meal was $113 before tip, which I think is reasonable for good quality food in a downtown location. We don’t drink so that keeps cost lower.

A good experience

I’m not sure how they got great reviews. I like great sushi and this place fell short. I expressed what I like and showed pictures, nope, didn’t help them at all. It took an hour for two rolls. Come to find out the waitress was too busy talking while the roll was in the counter for 20 minutes. I had to ask for the check, no follow ups. Will not return.
