Haven’t been here since they changed ownership and name which was about two years now, maybe more. Went here on ac Friday night about an hour and a half to closing. The place wasn’t packed but we still waited about 10 minutes for a table to be cleared. Food was just okay. We got the chicken kara-age to start which was pretty good. We then got the lion king roll and godzilla roll. The godzilla roll was just okay. I didn’t quite like that it had imitation crab for the price. The fake crab made the roll taste cheap and not very appetizing. The lion king roll was kind of small in size but it tasted ok. They didn’t broil the top to give it that roasted salmon taste. We then got a curry tonkatsu don. In all honesty, the curry was not good. I think I would have done better with one of those Japanese curry blocks and made it at home. The curry didn’t look appetizing at all, it looked like they added a lot of corn starch to thicken it up and you could see the lumpyness of the sauce. We also had a bento box with california roll and sashimi. This was good but the rice was not fresh at all and was kind of dry and hard. We also had a bowl of beef upon. This was I think the most impressive of all our dishes. There was alot of beef and noodles and a good amount of veggies. The soup had a lot of msg though so it made me very thirsty afterwards. I think in the future I would just get the simple rolls.

I like how the place is jam-packed with colorful decorations and souvenirs. It reminds me of Asia. The food we had was quite good.

Such a great spot for consistently, good sushi. My wife and I come here often, especially whenever my parents come up to visit. It seems to be my dad’s favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating, and they have great options on the menu. Highly recommend!

I expected the sushi to be a bit better for the rating this place had. Servers were very nice but salmon nigiri tasted bland and was poorly cut (see picture). Eel nigiri was pretty good though.

What a cute cosy spot in El Cerrito. We were staying with friends and this place is literally 5min walk from the house 🙂 I was craving some miso soup so just walked there! Super convenient.

It’s OK, sushi was not frozen and the fish was better than my la trip last week. I miss the traditional sushi house. When sushi tasted so good and the cucumber salad was prepared with pride, now I feel they just cut up a cucumber and put it in bowl, no onions, tomato or a vinegrette.

Their takoyaki has great texture, crunchy outside with a soft inside. Definitely the best I’ve had compared to other restaurants in the east bay.

Great sushi and bento! Fresh and beautiful cuts of sashimi, perfectly done tempura, and delicious rice. Edamame is complimentary at sit down. Service is great and friendly. Prices are great for the quality. This little spot has a bright, modern Japanese decor and is roomy between tables. They also have a punch card for frequent diners that gets a free roll when it’s full. Sunomono is great too.

There are a few Japanese restaurants in this area of El Cerrito and I think this one is the best overall experience. The nigiri was very well sliced and tasted fresh, the servers were friendly, and the atmosphere good.
