I visited here with my husband and my kid, and everything was great! The sushi was fresh and the staff were super nice and attentive. We got Spicy Salmon Roll and Monica Roll, and asked for the spicy sauce on the side so our kid could eat it too. We’re big salmon lovers, and the salmon here was so fresh — totally hit the spot! We’ll definitely be back.

I think 4 is perfect for this place… it seems to be family owned and the man with glasses who is the waiter was incredibly kind and helpful… it was clean and comfortable. The sushi is good, especially for Louisville… again a solid 4… prices were very reasonable and good sake choices. Seems like most people were getting takeout and eating inside it was easy to get a seat on a Friday night.

So bad. Food was rotten, vegetarian dishes weren’t even vegetarian and both of these issues were expressed by a group of us to the waitress and chef. They didn’t appear to care and even claimed that it wasn’t true. They did not apologize or attempt to make things right. The smell was horrendous. Further, the waitresses preschool-aged daughter was delivering us our plates and drinks, which is concerning for hygiene purposes as I’m not sure I want a little girl playing on the floor to handle my plate. Making things much worse was the fact that the waitress was clearly extremely pissed off at us and was rude as all get out. Portion sizes were appropriate for young children, prices certainly ridiculously inflated. To finish the night, the bathroom sink is leaking, with wet towels sitting under it. Nothing remotely hygienic about this place. Oh, I almost forgot…there was a hair in the sauce.

The food portion is crazy! I had an exhausting day, so I ordered through UberEats and paid $15 for fried rice with shrimp and beef. I know ubereats charges more on its platform but the amount of product could only fill half of my bowl, my three year old girl easily finished all of it with milk and applesauce after, while I still had to cook my own meal. The fried rice had 3 shrimps about the size of half of my thumb, and a few tiny pieces of thinly shredded beef, literally paper thin! For the price point this is low quantity and low quality. I have been ordering from this place regularly for a year, but not again.

We were incredibly excited to enjoy a special New Year’s Eve meal with takeout sushi from Sushi Master unfortunately, the experience was a major letdown. Several pieces, particularly the salmon nigiri, tempura shrimp roll and avocado unagi roll, had an off-flavor and a slightly mushy texture, suggesting the fish wasn’t the freshest. This was a real disappointment, especially on such a special occasion. We were hoping for a delicious and memorable meal, but sadly, this wasn’t it.

I stumbled upon The Sushi Master after getting some medicine from the Apothecary a few doors down. I saw the inviting red storefront and decided to check them out!
The interior dining area was clean, simple, and elegant and I was greeted warmly by the gentleman chef and who I assume is his wife. He offered the menu but I ordered my go-to which is the rainbow roll.
While he prepared my food, I noticed their adorable little daughter who was doing some activity at a little desk near the sushi bar.
The woman gave me my order and I went on my way.
The rainbow roll was excellent. The rice tasted good and was the perfect amount to not take away from the fish and other ingredients which were deliciously fresh and flavorful.
I definitely recommend The Sushi Master and I will be back.

The portions you receive are not acceptable for the cost of the meal. When I kindly explained this to the chef and the woman working there they were not helpful. The food is just OK, better off spending the same amount of money at a hibachi place or a better quality food restaurant. I will not be ordering from here again. Below is what they gave my son who is 11 for a kids meal. We have ordered kids meals from many establishments and the portion was adequate for the age of the child it was intended for. I explained to the chef that this portion should be advertised for a toddler.
