Wonderful sushi place that is good for even those who don’t like sushi.

As someone who doesn’t eat seafood I was super happy. Tempura vegetables, the Lucky Buddha roll, great noodles. The desserts were great too!

Lovely team of servers. Our main server was Albert and he was a real gem for the 4 of us.

Comes with an alcohol choice and their all you can eat selections are great.

Lovely place and plenty of food! We’ll be back!

HOW do I even start. This is the most life changing sushi place I have ever been to. I’m usually not the raw fish type of sushi person, but this has been the only place so far that actually makes it good. I love trying new things at restaurants, but this places food is just so good that I stick with my favorites. To start off with sushi, I get the California roll and the Philadelphia roll. I’m way too lazy to explain what that is, so you’ll have to look that up. Then, I also get the tamyam soup or whatever it’s called. This soup is my favorite soup ever and I have never heard of it outside this restaurant. Maybe it’s a specialty, or maybe I’m just uneducated, but that’s not my problem. My record so far for this soup is 6 bowls. (In one sitting) anyways enough about me. They also have the best desserts ever, with unique things that you don’t see too much, like fried Oreos, fried cheesecake, and matcha ice-cream. Now for the place. The restaurant is clean, often quiet/ with moderate noise level even when the restaurant is full. It is huge, and has quiet, soft booths to sit at, a huge round bar, and a counter area you can sit at where you can eat, and watch them make the sushi. It is also very nicely decorated, giving off a cozy atmosphere. The servers are average, but still nice. Now before you go, “Oh BuT yOu GaVe A 5 sTaR rAtInG” if y’all remember, approximately 5 seconds ago I talked about how big the restaurant is. If the restaurant is not as packed/ has more staff that day, they will usually have more time for you and even give recommendations and try to make small talk. Lastly, this is basically like a restaurant buffet. You get to sit at a nice fancy place, while paying a already set price for each person, with I believe free for kids under 5, around 20$ for kids over 5, and like 30$ for adults. Now before you try to go all big back and order everything, DONT make the mistake of ordering everything all at once to “try it since it’s basically free” because what they don’t say in the reviews, is how all the food you end up not eating, you have to PAY EXTRA for. Just order slowly, and always make room for the dessert. Also trying the Japanese sodas is a must. The lychee flavor is simply the best. Overall, life changing.

Sushi Masa in Lakeland is a solid option if you’re looking for convenient, all-you-can-eat sushi, but it does fall into the “good, not great” category—especially when compared to places like Sushi Yama. The food overall is decent and consistent enough to keep people coming back, but it lacks the refinement and freshness you notice at higher-quality sushi spots.

The sushi itself is acceptable, but the difference in execution is noticeable. At Sushi Yama, the sushi feels more precise and traditional, while at Sushi Masa the rolls tend to be heavier and less balanced. It’s not bad, just more average. That difference shows up in smaller details too—items like shumai are almost always overcooked, and the pineapple in the fried rice often tastes like canned rather than fresh.

Service is where Sushi Masa struggles the most. Turnaround time can be frustratingly slow, especially during busy hours. Orders are taken by servers, and more often than not, one or two dishes are forgotten entirely. This has happened repeatedly over multiple visits, so it doesn’t feel like a one-off issue. A digital ordering system—like the one used at bartaco—would dramatically improve efficiency and accuracy. Faster ordering would mean quicker food delivery and far fewer mistakes.

Overall, Sushi Masa is fine for casual dining and quantity, but there’s clear room for improvement. With better service systems and more attention to food consistency, it could be much better than it currently is.

This place has the potential to be 5 star, need to start with the food, the calamari was like rubber, the California roll the crab was mushy, I will say the potatoes roll was good and the dragon roll was good, the fried oreos were ok. The service was just ok was not very tentative. The building was amazing and unique, the decor was done in a way to give an atmosphere that gave the restaurant a welcome asian vibe

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, but unfortunately, the service and food fell short. The menu is pricey unless you go for the $33 AYCE option (I didn’t try it, but it might be the better value).

Service Timeline:
• 8 min: order taken
• 12 min: water and soup
• 21 min: sushi entrées (still waiting on other dishes)
• 30 min: calamari and hibachi
• 33 min: salad

Food:
• Gyoza: small, dry
• Sushi: dry, tasteless
• Hibachi: small portion, dry, lacking flavor and nutrition
• Calamari: decent

Needs Improvement: Service consistency, food quality, pricing (outside AYCE), cleanliness, and even music choice.

Food and service were great. We had Albert for our server and he was so nice! We did the all you can eat for our 19th anniversary and we are so full. I got the witch margarita and it was really good- probably the best margarita I ever had.

The All-you-can-eat lunch deal was so worth it!! This was our first time here and the food was all very good. Our server, Justin, was very nice and offered great suggestions and provided great service. We will for sure be returning for the all-you-can-eat dinner deal later!

Can’t recommend Sushi Masa any higher. Amazing food, but even better service. Matt was the highlight of the evening. Best server I’ve ever had, hands down. He was always there when we wanted to order another item and had a smile on his face during the busiest period of the week. 10/10

We had a disappointing experience during what should have been a simple lunch visit. We arrived well before 3:00 PM and were given lunch menus, so we reasonably expected to be charged lunch prices. However, when the bill arrived, we were charged for dinner entrées, which are significantly more expensive and include more options than what was available on the lunch menu.
What made this more frustrating was the lack of explanation or care shown when we brought it up. Our waiter, Chloe, came across as uninterested and dismissive, which made the situation feel uncomfortable rather than resolved. If dinner pricing was going to apply, that should have been clearly communicated upfront—especially since we were only offered and ordered from the lunch menu.
We don’t mind paying fairly for what we receive, but charging dinner prices for lunch offerings doesn’t make sense. We hope management can clarify this policy and encourage better communication and attentiveness moving forward.

Our first time and we would come back. The all you can eat menu is spectacular! The quality of the seafood is notable. The service was excellent. Michael P. Was our server and he was amazing in all aspects. $32 dinner and lunch is $20. We went during dinner time!
