I’ve been going to Sushi Masa for 25 years. The most incredible Sushi I’ve had. The owner and his wife make every Sushi dish by hand while you wait. I’ve traveled a lit and never had as good. By far, my most favorite restaurant in Sioux Falls.

Sushi Masa feels like a traditional Japanese restaurant. It has a variety of Japanese issues beyond sushi. The menu has different sushi combos as well. This is not the place to get fancy rolls. I got chirashi, my go to dish to try a variety. It came with a salad that was drenched in miso dressing. It was iceberg lettuce that tasted like it had been frozen. The miso soup was okay, it had potato pieces in it which is unusual. The chirashi itself was awesome, it was a large dish with a great variety and the fish was very fresh, with melt in your mouth tuna. I also like the booths in the restaurant, it feels cozy. The service was attentive. It’s a little pricey than other sushi in Sioux Falls but the fish really was high quality. Would give 4.5 stars, the decrease from 5 stars was due to the salad and soup.

I really like this place. The sushi was the best I’ve ever had in my life! Very clean inside, and the service was perfect. I also really liked the booths. It’s like your own little cubby.

This place is great! Will definitely be coming back to try more sushi! Our favorites were the special cucumber which is an appetizer and the spider roll first and second photo! We also had the Isobe which is an appetizer too third photo. I was not a fan of but my husband said it was ok.

Loved Sushi Masa. Visiting Sioux Falls and the sushi is better than anything I can get at home. Very good quality and portions. Service and atmosphere were nice too

5 enthusiastic stars. Sushi is super fresh, and it’s just good traditional sushi, not deep fried with cream cheese. The teriyaki… I feel like we need a moment of silence for how delicious it was. Had that grilled flavor, the sauce was savory and delicious, not sweet. Just amazing. And for tamago fans, this one is perfect. Excellent meal, service, and atmosphere. Cannot wait to go back.

Loved the Dynamite Hand Roll (mixed seafood with mayo). The shrimp tempura and gyoza were tasty.
The Oyako Don was watery and not recommended.

A small and quaint restaurant. Good date atmosphere.

Listen… I love sushi. I’ve been to Japan, I’ve even been fortunate to have omakase sushi in the old Tsukiji fish market. I’ve also tried several sushi places in the US. This is, hands down, the best nigiri I have had outside of Japan. I’d even argue it’s better than some sushi I’ve had IN Japan!

I can only speak for the nigiri as that’s all I had. But the pieces of fish were cut perfectly. Thick, large cuts of tuna, salmon, and Hamachi. They even put the perfect amount of Wasabi for you between the fish and the rice, just the way it’s done in Japan. (If you don’t like Wasabi or prefer to do it on your own, you can always ask them to leave it out).

It can definitely be a bit pricey, but I promise it’s filling and deliciously worth trying at least once.
