Tried Sushi Kuchi on Convoy and honestly, I wouldn’t go back. The 50% off menu feels very deceiving—small portions and not worth the price, even with the discount. My salad was the only thing that tasted good. My son’s salmon roll was tiny and used scrap fish instead of a proper piece.
With so many amazing sushi spots on Convoy (including the super busy one right next door), this place really doesn’t compete. It wasn’t busy when we went, and now I see why. Disappointed overall.

Amazing staff. Nice people make the experience pleasant.
The food is decent. I had one roll that was very rice-heavy, and one roll with pieces that were way too big, so it was a gigantic mess to eat. They do give you a lot of ginger and Wasabi.
Prices are average to high. They have “half price” rolls, but the menu prices are so high on those that what you get is exactly what you pay for. There’s no deal. Also you pay more if you order to go. And the prices are way higher than what Google maps shows, it would be nice if they would update that.
I think they should just be honest and straightforward with pricing and not try to fake like they are doing you a favor. They aren’t.
This place is definitely not bad but it’s not a place I would make a special trip for.

Went to Suchi kuchi with friends for dinner and we all enjoyed the experience. We found that it was relatively cheap, only spending around 12 dollars per person. The food was good, i had the shrimp tempura roll and it was one of the best I have had with an amazing crust in the shrimp. There was no music and the atmosphere was average having nothing special. The service was very attentive and very kind.

Great customer service! Had lunch with my gf and her friend. Was a pleasant surprise to see they had a section that was 50% for a special.
Pricing isn’t too bad either and the sushi itself was good quality. Equals the price. Overall great environment.

I’m so bummed… I really wanted to love this place because the one it replaced was an easy 5 star sushi spot. So they had big shoes to fill. However, some big red flags were too big to overlook. First off, the dining area is uncomfortably close and doesn’t have a lot of charm to make it an inviting place to enjoy some sushi. There were only two other tables eating when I was there and the waitress told me to sit anywhere… but nowhere looked appealing. So when I did choose a table I immediately noticed how uncomfortable the wooden chairs were. Pretty to look at but not pleasant to sit in. Soooo… I ordered three rolls and a miso. The miso was great, nice and fresh. As well as the ginger, chilled just like I like it. But the wasabi was… I dunno, tasteless. It had a strange texture but may as well not have been there. I’ve never had wasabi like that. Not good. The rolls were fine, nothing over the top or memorable. But the price… they list them all at 50% off but the prices are so obviously inflated and the 50% just brings them down to the regular price you’d pay anywhere else. It’s just a gimmick that is frankly insulting the intelligence of their customers. Just tell us the price, don’t be weird about it. We aren’t dumb!
So the food was fine, and I would have been happy with a 4 star review but the waitress made a huge mistake. Half way through my meal my drink ran dry and was not refilled until I got the bill. This is the single biggest reason I don’t come back to a place. Will I come back to Kuchi? Maybe… but I won’t be here every other day like I was with the previous restaurant. Oh well…
One last thing… why are the chefs hidden away? The sushi is made in the back out of view. I like to see the fresh fish and whatnot. Doesn’t feel right..

Is this the absolute best sushi in San Diego? I’m not sure – there are a lot of choices in this city. But it’s definitely the freshest with the nicest presentation and quality that I’ve ever had. Amazing scallop rolls and tuna nigiri. The pictures say it all.

I came here for my birthday with a big group of 10 and had such a great time!! I called ahead to reserve a table. The staff is super nice and the sushi was delicious. In particular the eel hand roll was one of the best I’ve had!! The prices were also pretty low especially from the 50% off list and the 99c sake bombs which are so fun. The staff even served us our cake that we brought and made it a whole celebration! Overall so glad I picked this spot for my birthday dinner and definitely will be back for more sushi

Absolutely delicious sushi. Anyone who enjoys sushi should try this place. Not only fresh but they had many specialty rolls that were really good to try as well.

50% OFF menu.
If it wasn’t for the 50% it would have been a little expensive.
We were walking around and we thought to try this little place and we were glad we did.
Sushi rolls were very tasty.
Clean place.
The staff is nice, helpful and beyond. You can ask’em anything and will help you as much as they can.
We tried 6 rolls total and every one of them was very good.
And that was the second time visiting Kuchi.
We’ll be back soon.
We’re back…. still very good.
